In 1992, Simon Milton (on the far left) rejoiced in returning to the highest division alongside his teammates Jason Dozzell, Chris Kiwomya, and John Wark.
Former Ipswich Town player Simon Milton has shared his genuine gratitude for the supportive messages he has received following his illness during the Premier League match on Sunday.
Milton, 61, currently serving as a club ambassador, became unwell while in the directors' box during the second half of the 2-1 loss to AFC Bournemouth at Portman Road and was subsequently taken to the hospital.
After leaving the hospital, he shared in an Instagram post: "Your kind messages, thoughts, and prayers have meant everything to me."
"I want to take a moment to sincerely thank everyone for their incredible support and love. It means so much to me."
Milton was a midfielder for Ipswich from 1987 to 1998. During his time at the club, he played a key role in their promotion to the top tier of English football in the 1991-92 season, working under manager John Lyall. This was the year prior to the establishment of the Premier League.
He mentioned that he had been at home relaxing with his family and felt truly grateful to his fans for their "thoughtful messages."
"I hope you appreciate that I can't reply to each message since I'm receiving hundreds of them," he mentioned.
In a previous announcement, the club shared: "Simon is currently stable and able to communicate. He is in a positive mood and will be going home to rest."
We kindly request that everyone honors Simon and his family's privacy during this time.
He wants to express his gratitude to the first responders at Portman Road and to everyone who has sent their good wishes.
