Apple has announced the date for the release of the significant upcoming update for iPhones, known as iOS 18.

On Monday, the company showcased a range of new products, featuring four new iPhone models, at an event hosted at its headquarters in California.

Additionally, it revealed an update that will be available for free to the majority of current iPhone users: the introduction of iOS 18.

Apple announced that it will be available for download starting on September 16.

Once it becomes available, you can download it via the Settings app. Compatible phones will also notify users to update.

It will be accessible on any iPhone that supports the current iOS 17.

The update introduces new personalization options for the home screen and modifications to apps like Photos.

However, it is important to point out that it lacks one of Apple’s most anticipated software features: Apple Intelligence, which is a collection of AI-enhanced tools.

Apple announced that it won't be available until October. Initially, it will be offered only in US English, with UK English and additional localization options set to arrive in December, followed by new languages like Chinese in January.

In contrast to iOS 18, the hardware needed to use Apple Intelligence is quite limited. It will only work on the latest iPhone 15 Pro and all new iPhone 16 models. Additionally, it won't be accessible in the European Union due to ongoing disagreements with regulators.

You can now access beta versions of both iOS 18 and iOS 18.1, the latter featuring Apple Intelligence. To download them, you'll need to sign up for Apple's beta program. Just keep in mind that some potential technical problems and bugs might come along with these versions.
