Ian Hislop amuses viewers as he jokes about cab 'shooting' on Have I Got News For You
What Did You Overlook?
Ian Hislop began the show "Have I Got News For You" with a light-hearted comment about being "happy to be present," following news that someone had fired a gun at his black taxi.

Authorities investigated the matter but concluded that they had uncovered "no indication of a gun being fired."
It was proposed that a "technical issue" might have led to the damage seen on the cab's window.

After the incident occurred, Private Eye editor Hislop released a statement expressing his gratitude, saying he was thankful for everyone's concern, which he truly values.
It continued: "He can verify that there was an event involving a taxi yesterday where a back window was broken, and the police are looking into it. They initially considered the chance that a gunshot was involved, but they have now suggested there might be a simpler explanation for the situation."
The police stated that they have "not discovered any signs of gunfire up to now" and that "early evidence points to a possible mechanical issue as the reason for the window breaking."
