Strictly Come Dancing star Giovanni Pernice denies claims of 'abusive or threatening behaviour' on show

Giovanni Pernice, a popular dancer on Strictly Come Dancing, has denied claims that he exhibited any form of hostile or intimidating conduct during his time as a professional performer on the program.

The Italian dancer, aged 33, stated that he was taken aback by the news that the BBC is investigating complaints about his behaviour.

A law firm representing the accusers has stated that the broadcaster is currently engaged in "collecting evidence," though the BBC has yet to officially announce any investigation.

On Instagram, Pernice revealed something startling to his fan base. He conveyed that he was rather taken aback by the accusations in the media this week. They pertained to his practical approach to teaching dance.

Naturally, I deny any insinuation of hostile or intimidating actions, and I am eager to prove my innocence.

He said: "People who have been following my Strictly Come Dancing journey for the last ten years can attest to my fervent and competitive nature.

I am the one who is most driven for my dance partners to succeed.

Since the beginning, my goal has been to assist them in becoming the most exceptional dancers possible.

I have always had a desire to succeed in dance, driven by my love for it and the determination to achieve victory for myself and my partners.

Pernice ended his message by saying: "Once again, many thanks for your unceasing love and support! Giovanni."

The law company Carter-Ruck released a statement to the PA news agency saying that multiple grave grievances were brought to the BBC's attention. The BBC is currently collecting evidence regarding the matter.

At this moment, because the issue is still occurring, there isn't any additional information that can be provided.

The newspaper, The Sun, was the first to report that there were indications of an inquiry and they also alleged that Pernice had left the program.

Pernice's exit from the BBC has not been verified by either party.

Pernice, who hails from Sicily, has been a regular on the BBC One series featuring famous individuals dancing since 2015.

He triumphed in the 2021 edition of Strictly and won the glitterball prize together with Rose Ayling-Ellis, a talented actress from EastEnders who made history as the first deaf winner of the show. This was a long-awaited moment for him as he had made it to the finals three times before.
