Garth Brooks has addressed allegations of rape and assault following a lawsuit filed by a former makeup artist and hairstylist against him.

Brooks, 62, a prominent figure in country music, has rejected the claims made against him.

A woman known only as "Jane Roe" has filed a lawsuit against him. She claims that she originally started working as a hair and makeup artist for his wife, Trisha Yearwood, back in 1999. According to her, she began directly working with Brooks in 2017.

A lawsuit was filed in a California state court on Thursday, October 3rd, claiming that Brooks assaulted a woman in a hotel room while on a business trip. CNN was the first to cover the story.

"For the past couple of months, I've faced relentless harassment filled with threats, deceit, and heartbreaking stories about what my future could look like if I don’t hand over a check for several million dollars," Brooks’ representatives told Deadline. "It feels as if someone is holding a loaded gun to my head."

He stated, “Regardless of the amount, hush money is still hush money. To me, it signifies that I'm acknowledging actions I would never be capable of—distasteful things that no person should inflict on another.”

Brooks also mentioned a legal action he took to stop the details of the allegations against him from being disclosed to the public.

"We took legal action against this individual almost a month ago to stand up against blackmail and damage to our reputation," he clarified.

"We submitted it anonymously to protect the families involved." He went on to say, "I want to perform tonight. I want to keep up our positive efforts in the future. It truly saddens me that these amazing things are now under scrutiny. I have faith in the system, I’m not afraid of the truth, and I am not the person they’ve made me out to be."

The unidentified woman stated that in May 2019, she flew to Los Angeles with Brooks on his private jet. Usually, they would have other people accompanying them, but this time, it was just the two of them on board.

"When Ms. Roe arrived at the hotel in Los Angeles, she was taken aback to discover that Brooks had reserved a one-bedroom suite, leaving her without a private room," the complaint stated.

She claims that Brooks went on to assault her and that, at other times, he touched her inappropriately and repeatedly suggested the idea of a threesome involving his wife. She described the ordeal as having been "hurtful and distressing."

Along with the claim of assault, she also alleges that Brooks exposed himself to her, discussed sexual fantasies, and sent her inappropriate text messages.
