Gareth Southgate: A Rising Star of English Football

Gareth Southgate, born on September 3, 1970, in Watford, England, is a former footballer and now head coach of the English national football team. He is considered as one of the most promising football coaches in recent times, and his impact on English football cannot be overlooked. Southgate played for Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Middlesbrough in his 18-year pro career. He eventually became Middlesbrough's captain and led the team to the 2006 UEFA Cup final.

Southgate’s Coaching Journey

After retiring from professional football, Southgate became a coach and soon rose to become the head coach of Middlesbrough. Despite being relegated in his first season, Southgate proved himself, leading them to gain promotion back to the Premier League. Following his success at Middlesbrough, he got an appointment as the coach of England U-21 football team. He led the team to the semifinals of the 2017 UEFA European Under-21 Championship.
