Rapper Julio Foolio shot dead in Florida, lawyer says

Foolio

The attorney representing Florida hip-hop artist Julio Foolio has confirmed that he was fatally shot in Tampa.

The police reported that four individuals were shot in a hotel parking lot on Sunday morning. Unfortunately, one person passed away and is suspected to be Foolio, but this is pending confirmation from a medical examination.

The law firm representing the victim confirmed the identity of the 26-year-old individual as Charles Jones.

Foolio was having a birthday celebration when the incident happened, according to attorney Lewis Fusco.

The musician was unexpectedly attacked in the hotel parking lot, according to Mr. Fusco's statement, as reported by a local affiliate of CBS News, the US partner of the BBC.

He had to move out because the authorities told him he had too many people staying in an Airbnb property.

The rapper had shared updates on his Instagram about the party, stating that the police had intervened and ended it.

Police reported that two vehicles were damaged in the gunfire incident that occurred around 4:40 AM EDT (9:40 AM BST). The three additional individuals who were hurt were transported to the hospital and are in stable condition.

Foolio has close to one million people who listen to his music every month on Spotify. His most popular track on the platform is called Voo Doo.

Just this April, he shared on Instagram that the past few months had been filled with sadness and danger, saying there had been "several times when someone tried to harm me".

Local media reports that he openly talked about being part of a gang.

The authorities are asking people to share any details they may have that could assist in the ongoing investigation.
