News // Eight Saints named in England squad for training camp
Steve Borthwick has announced his inaugural squad for the 2024/25 season, including eight players from Northampton Saints in the 36-member team set to attend a three-day training camp next week.
Following their tour with the England team over the summer, club captain George Furbank, along with wings Tommy Freeman and Ollie Sleightholme, fly-half Fin Smith, center Fraser Dingwall, and lock Alex Coles will all rejoin the national squad when they come together on Monday.
They will be joined by their club teammates Trevor Davison and Tom Pearson at Pennyhill Park, as the tighthead prop and back rower connect with the larger team in preparation for the upcoming 2024 Autumn Nations Series.
At 32 years old, Davison is set to rejoin the national team next week after previously earning two caps during Eddie Jones's tenure as England's head coach in 2021. Meanwhile, Pearson, who made his international debut against Wales in 2023, is also back with England after playing for England A in their match against Argentina last season.
On Saturday, November 2, England will welcome New Zealand to Allianz Stadium at Twickenham for their opening game of the 2024 Autumn Nations Series, set to kick off at 3:10 PM. Following this match, they will also face Australia, South Africa, and Japan.
Before the upcoming three-day training camp, head coach Borthwick remarked, “Having seen an exciting and high-scoring beginning to the Premiership season, I’m eager to bring the players together once more.”
