Para Lions Advance To IFCPF World Championship Quarters!
England's Cerebral Palsy squad wrapped up their group matches impressively at the IFCPF World Championship, achieving a commanding 9-2 win against Canada.
The Para Lions made a strong comeback after their close loss to Brazil on Tuesday, delivering an impressive performance in Salou.
David Porcher, who scored three goals in the first half (shown in the picture above), along with contributions from James Blackwell and Sam Dewhirst, helped set Andy Smith’s team on the right path.
Mason Dunbar and Ethan Day, who came on in the second half, each scored twice to finish off the scoring. Their goals helped secure the team’s second place in the group, trailing only Brazil, who won their match against Japan 1-0.
As a result, England will be up against Ukraine in the quarter-finals this Saturday at 8:30 AM GMT.
England's lineup includes: 1. Giles Moore, 2. Liam Irons, 6. Matt Crossen (captain), 7. James Blackwell, 8. Sam Dewhirst, 9. David Porcher, and 12. Jayden Kenyon. The substitutes were: Mason Dunbar replacing Irons at the 31-minute mark, Will Ramsey coming on for Porcher also at 31 minutes, Ethan Day taking Kenyon's place at 31 minutes, Reegan McMillan substituting for Moore in the 37th minute, and Aaron Lucas stepping in for Blackwell, also at 37 minutes.
