In Mumbai, England was dealt a crushing blow by South Africa as they lost by a huge margin of 229 runs. This loss puts their chances of qualifying for the semi-finals of the Cricket World Cup in jeopardy. It will be difficult for them to recover from this defeat and maintain their hopes of advancing in the tournament.

Jos Buttler's team in Delhi was shocked and thinking about the circumstances that led to their loss by 69 runs against Afghanistan. Afghanistan had only recently obtained full-ICC membership. Unfortunately, the same scenario repeated itself when they played against the Proteas.

The weaknesses that were noticeable in their initial couple of games turned into significant problems. A player named Henrich Klaasen managed to hit 109 runs in only 67 rounds, which helped South Africa reach almost 399 points, while England was having trouble dismissing their opponents. However, it was the act of hitting the ball where England really messed up, resulting in a disastrous match.

South Africa quickly dismissed the top players in the game, with only Gus Atkinson and Mark Wood managing to achieve a record-breaking partnership for the ninth wicket. The highest score achieved by any other player was Harry Brook's 17.

England recently suffered their biggest loss in ODI cricket. Though it's important to note that in 2019 they managed to qualify for the semi-finals even after losing three games before eventually becoming champions. However, with India and Australia left to play, the road ahead appears to be challenging.
