Gasum Starts Bio-LNG Station In Finland
Gasum is making a new bio-LNG filling station. This is in Keminmaa in northern Finland. The company is owned by the Finnish state. The station will have liquefied biogas.
Gasum said it will take six months to build the station. They want it to be open by the end of the year.
The Keminmaa filling station will be finished soon. It will be the first gas station in Finnish Lapland. Gasum says it'll be their northernmost station. Also, it'll be the northernmost biogas station in Europe.
There's a new gas station in Lulea, Sweden. It's owned by Gasum. They recently opened it. It's their second one up north.
At Keminmaa station, you can get liquefied and compressed biogas. This is for people who drive heavy-duty vehicles and passenger cars.
The station is in the new Rajakangas industrial park. The park is on the E8 Oulu-Tornio road. The station is near the Rovaniemi junction.
Gasum's latest station is perfectly located to cater to travelers heading towards Rovaniemi, Tornio, and even Sweden.
Keminmaa station got funding from the EU’s Connecting Europe Facility.
Juho Kurra, who is the head of business at Gasum in Finland, said they want to have more filling stations in the north and allow the use of biogas and gas for transportation in Lapland.
Kurra said the Keminmaa station will help long-distance transport in the north. It will also encourage more logistics providers to use biogas-powered transport.
Gasum said that biogas is nearly the only gas sold for transportation in all vehicle types in Finland.
Gasum wants to have 7 TWh of renewable gas every year by 2027. This is what the company said.
