On November 9th, Dua Lipa unveiled her latest track "Houdini" and also made an appearance on Hits Radio Breakfast with Fleur East, James, and Matt to discuss her upcoming album. Additionally, she discussed the original iteration of "Dance The Night" that has yet to be made public.

At the beginning of this year, Dua dropped her blockbuster track 'Dance The Night', which got showcased in the famous flick Barbie. It was Mark Ronson who teamed up with her to pen the song but later disclosed that they modified it after watching a particular scene from the movie.

'Dance All Night'

In the month of August, Mark Ronson posted various videos on social platforms where he disclosed further information about the song's creation and expressed how they modified the song entirely even while Dua Lipa was on her tour.

He described how Dua reacted to the scene, saying "Wow, this is really great and enjoyable! We should rewrite the entire thing to match what's happening here."

We resumed working in the studio, despite her being amidst a colossal global tour.

Will Dua Release It Soon?

When we inquired with Dua about the song she first wrote, we asked if she would ever consider officially releasing it. Her response was that she didn't think it wasn't a decent song, but rather that it centers around Barbie's supposed happiest day, before delving into darker themes of death that may not align with what the Barbie brand typically represents.

In essence, I believe that in our first draft, we focused too heavily on the melancholy aspects rather than creating a lively dance routine with subtle hints of sadness. We ought to prioritize the dancing over the crying element."

While the first version focused more on crying than dancing, I am certain that the current version is better. I have no intention of sharing the original because I believe that the current version, titled ‘Dance The Night’, is the true original.

How Will Dua's Next Album Sound?

Dua Lipa's upcoming album has been a hot topic lately. Rumors suggest that it may hit the shelves in 2024, but the star herself hasn't officially confirmed it. Dua has hinted that her new music will have a unique sound, different from her previous work. However, she doesn't want her loyal fans to feel left out of the experience.

Dua expressed her extreme excitement to Fleur and the rest of the team, revealing that she has been eagerly waiting to release her music for a long time. She spent a significant amount of time in the studio, especially during her tour last year, to ensure that her music was completed. Finally, the time has come for her to start anew with fresh music.

"This new album certainly showcases a noticeable change in its sound compared to the previous one. It's imbued with a somber and trippy quality that permeates the entire piece."

What's The Origin Of 'Houdini'?

During our conversation, Dua also shared the reasoning behind naming her latest song 'Houdini', stating: "I enjoy playing with language and I particularly loved the name Houdini because Houdini was a skilled escape artist. The message behind the song, for me at least, is about recognizing your own value, understanding what you are entitled to, knowing when to remain and knowing when to make a swift exit, just like Houdini."

She added: "It can be quite challenging to gather the courage to walk away. You must trust that this situation is not benefiting you. It's crucial to listen to your intuition and act accordingly."
