Streamer Dr Disrespect axed by his gaming company

The famous gaming streamer Herschel "Guy" Beahm, also known as Dr Disrespect, has been fired from his position at his gaming company "suddenly" after they were informed of an accusation against him.

Midnight Society, the group that Beahm helped create, has made a choice to part ways. This decision comes after Beahm was unexpectedly banned from the streaming site Twitch, where he had a large fan base, four years ago.

The cause of his departure was never explained, but the platform owned by Amazon stated that they took action whenever users violated the rules.

Beahm has stated that he did not do anything wrong and that the situation has been investigated and resolved. He emphasized that nothing illegal or incorrect was found.

In 2020, Twitch informed the BBC that they will take necessary steps if they find proof that a streamer has broken their rules or terms of service.

After two years, Beahm and Twitch reached an agreement to settle without admitting any fault, following the possibility of legal action.

He has been creating videos on YouTube ever since he was banned from Twitch, and now has more than 4.7 million people following his channel.

On Monday, the Midnight Society made a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) saying that on Friday night they found out about a claim against one of their co-founders, Guy Beahm also known as Dr Disrespect.

It stated: "We believed he was innocent and started talking to everyone involved. In order to uphold our values and ethics as a studio and as individuals, we had to take action."

The studio did not provide further information about the accusation.

The website The Verge shared a report stating that two ex-workers from Twitch claimed that Mr. Beahm engaged in inappropriate behavior.

Beahm firmly rejected the accusations made on X.

I'm not guilty of anything, everything has been investigated and resolved, there was no illegal activity or wrongdoing found, and I received payment.

In a different blog entry, he stated: "Twitch did not admit any wrongdoing and fulfilled the entire contract".

BBC News has reached out to Midnight Society, Twitch, YouTube, and two companies associated with Guy Beahm for their input.

No one has responded yet as of now.

Fans love the Dr Disrespect character because of his high-energy gameplay and bold, sometimes impolite, commentary.

He tends to be arrogant and overly confident when it comes to his competitors, and he also doesn't hold back when making sarcastic remarks towards his fans, who actually love being teased by him during live events.

During a live broadcast on Monday right before Midnight Society made their announcement, Mr. Beahm hinted that he would be taking a long break.

He talked about feeling tired and exhausted, and thought about whether he should take a break from his business endeavors.

He didn't specifically talk about the accusations, but suggested that it could be a good idea to consider a different approach.
