Mickey Rourke's amusingly strange opinion about Donald Trump has come back to light on the day of the US elections.
Following months of tumultuous campaigning, either the Republican candidate or his Democratic opponent, Kamala Harris, is poised to become the next president of the United States.
While certain celebrities have chosen to keep quiet about their voting decisions, a number of well-known figures have openly expressed their support for both candidates. In recent weeks, several personalities, including Harrison Ford, Jennifer Aniston, and Arnold Schwarzenegger, have voiced their backing for Harris.
One notable figure who has openly criticized Trump in the past is Mickey Rourke, the Oscar-winning actor known for his role in The Wrestler. Recently, a clip of him talking about the former president on Piers Morgan's TalkTV show, Uncensored, has gained a lot of attention online, with a post that includes the caption: “This is awesome.”
The video features a tense exchange between the two, with Rourke's responses becoming stranger and stranger. This interview, which took place in July 2022, centered on Rourke's reason for posting a picture on X/Twitter showing the Statue of Liberty crying.
This surprisingly resulted in an allegation that the actor had been approached by the Secret Service for making negative comments about Trump.
"They refer to it as the United States of America, but it feels more like the Divided States of America now. There's a significant reason for this, but I won't delve into it because I really don't want to get another visit from the Secret Service," he said in response.
When Morgan inquired, “When was the last time you had one?” Rourke replied, “Oh, that was about six months ago,” which prompted Morgan to question, “What was the reason?”
In response, Rourke took a moment before replying, “Why don’t you take a guess?”
Morgan then inquired, "Did it have to do with something you mentioned about President Trump?" Rourke agreed, stating he had simply shared "the truth."
When Morgan pressed the actor for an explanation, Rourke, maintaining a serious expression and after a long silence, simply said, “Guess what I’m thinking.”

During the same interview, Rourke referred to Tom Cruise as “irrelevant” and expressed that he holds “no respect” for him.
When asked about his reaction to Cruise topping the box office with Top Gun: Maverick, Rourke, known for his roles in Angel Heart, Sin City, and Iron Man 2, responded, "That doesn't mean anything to me."
The race for the 2024 presidency is still at a standstill in various key states, as indicated by national surveys. However, Harris remains the preferred candidate among many celebrities, who are concerned that another four years with Trump could have serious negative effects on the nation.
In recent months, Rourke has posted pictures on his Instagram of various celebrities backing Harris, accompanied by the message: “Famous figures and others – 'we' all share a crucial connection.”
