Dele Alli is feeling optimistic about his imminent comeback to the world of football, following several months of recuperation from a groin ailment. The 28-year-old underwent a surgical procedure for his hip while he was featuring in a loan spell at Besiktas during the previous campaign, and has not played a single match for Everton so far in the 2023/24 season.
Towards the end of January, he was almost fully fit but unfortunately hurt his groin which resulted in him needing to have another surgery to fix it. From that moment, the player has been gradually recuperating and is eager to return to playing on the field.
Dele became a member of the Merseyside club back in 2022. However, he has only managed to participate in a total of 13 games for Everton during his two-year stint with the team.
Dele recently appeared on Sky Sports' Mondy Night Football as a guest during Everton's match against Chelsea. In his first interview since July, he spoke about his past struggles with injuries. Dele had previously admitted to undergoing rehab for addiction to sleeping pills during an appearance on The Overlap show with Gary Neville.
Dele shared that he is doing fine during his appearance on MNF. He recalled thinking that it was the best he has ever felt during his interview. He clarified that at that time, he was fresh out of rehab and preparing to return to the game. Although it has been a challenging journey, he expressed that he is relishing the experience and is now geared up for a comeback.
During my interview, I expressed that all I wanted was to assist at least one individual. Although I had my own motives for doing it, being able to aid even a single person was enough for me. The response and encouragement I received exceeded my expectations, leaving me feeling overwhelmed. It was such an incredible feeling to witness how many people benefited from it, and I couldn't help but feel proud of my accomplishment.
Regarding his present career situation and future plans, Dele expressed, "I've had to practice patience to become more tolerant and understanding. The road to recovery from my groin injury has been quite a lengthy one."
There have been many highs and lows, and they have enabled me to develop as an individual. I am not pleased about being injured, but I am grateful for the chance it has given me to discover who I really am. When I return from my injury, I believe that I can utilize the pain as a source of inspiration and drive.
Many individuals have been inquiring about when I will return to football after my interview. However, they seem to believe that I am taking a break. The actual reason is that I have been dealing with an injury issue. Thankfully, I am nearing the end of my injury and I am optimistic about my recovery. I can perceive the end of my recovery process and I am thrilled about it.
