Peter Davison, a star in Beyond Paradise, has revealed that Ralf Little's character, DI Neville Parker, will be substituted by a 'younger' actor in Death In Paradise.
Davison, portraying Richard Baxter in the BBC show, has not completely discarded the possibility of assuming the role himself.
After being in the main part of Death In Paradise for five years, Little, who is 44, left the role. He made his last appearance in the finale of series 13 in March.
Davison mentioned to The Express, "I am open to taking on challenges, but I think it is more likely that they will choose someone younger instead of myself."
After the surprising news last month, Simon Bird from The Inbetweeners, Diane Morgan from Cunk on Britain, and Mathew Horne from Gavin and Stacey became popular choices as potential candidates - aged 39, 48, and 45, respectively.
According to Peter Davison, who stars in the spinoff of 'Death In Paradise', DI Neville Parker played by Ralf Little will be substituted with a 'younger person'.
Davison didn't completely dismiss the possibility of taking on the role, sharing: 'I'm open to new opportunities, so I wouldn't say no, but I believe they might choose someone who is a bit younger.'
Nevertheless, the BBC has refrained from disclosing any information regarding the potential replacement of Little.
Davison, who had a stint on the TV series Death in Paradise, mentioned that he was informed by the former main actor Ben Miller that the production schedule was quite exhausting. Nevertheless, Little expressed that he would have been content to continue working on the show for an indefinite period of time.
The performer from The Royle Family shared during an interview on BBC Breakfast that if the decision was solely based on their feelings, they would have preferred to continue doing it for an additional 20 years.
However, only for the purpose of the performance and for my role as Neville, it simply seemed like his tale... it merited closure, and his voyage merited accomplishment and he required a pleasant and content conclusion. As a result, it felt appropriate.
There hasn't been much discussion about Little's thoughts on his possible successor. He shared during a recent Q&A on Instagram that he truly has no clue about it. It's possible that even the company hasn't decided on a successor yet.
Just like everyone else, I am also excitedly anticipating the revelation of the next person. I have no clue, but time will reveal the outcome.
Davison's most recent appearance was in the show's offshoot where he starred alongside Kris Marshall and Barbara Flynn.
The individual who is 73 years old started acting in the series as a romantic partner for Barbara's persona, Anne. However, his appearance was limited after Anne unearthed the fact that he had a concealed spouse.
Tomorrow at 8pm, BBC One will once again air Beyond Paradise.
