Blues get Copa America call-up

Copa america

All the South American countries have announced the players who will participate in this year's Copa America. Chelsea supporters may want to pay attention to two teams who will be playing in the United States.

The cut-off time for countries to present their ultimate selection of 26 players for the 2024 Copa America ended at 11pm today (based on UK time). Argentina and Ecuador have chosen some Chelsea players to join their team for the competition held in the United States.

Enzo Fernandez will be aspiring to contribute to Argentina's success in keeping the Copa America championship title they secured in 2021. Such an achievement would place them as the second squad ever to have attained three consecutive major international tournaments in the world of soccer, standing alongside Spain's 2008-2012 team. Argentina has also won the 2022 World Cup, adding to their list of victories.

The male athlete from Chelsea who was previously injured has come back and played in two pre-match games for Argentina. It is anticipated that he will begin playing in the midfield alongside Alexis Mac Allister from Liverpool. Since joining the team in September 2022, he has missed only one game for his country.

Moises Caicedo, who plays alongside Enzo in Chelsea's midfield, will be participating in the USA with Ecuador. Despite being only 22 years old, he's already a crucial player for his national team and has earned 41 international caps. He'll be joined by Kendry Paez in Ecuador's team. Kendry Paez is the youngest player in Copa America, and after his 18th birthday next May, he's set to join the Blues from Independiente del Valle.

Argentina will play against Canada in the first game of the tournament on Friday 21 June at 1am. After that, Ecuador will start their campaign against Venezuela on Saturday 22 June at 11pm.
