Fans Outraged As Coldplay Sells Tickets For £2k

Fans were completely devastated and brought to tears after missing out on tickets for Coldplay.

Fans eager to catch a Coldplay concert are feeling "devastated" after failing to secure tickets.

Earlier, there was another opportunity to book venues for concerts at Craven Park in Hull and Wembley Stadium in London.

Still, regular tickets were gone in less than 40 minutes, and soon after, some were listed on resale sites for prices reaching £2,916.

Beth Francis, 32, from Grimsby, expressed that she was "in tears all morning" because she couldn't attend the band's show in Hull. She was also "absolutely furious" with the ticket scalpers.

Ticketmaster has been contacted for a response.

Ms. Francis expressed, "Being angry doesn't even begin to describe it. It's an incredibly selfish and awful act."

Big bands like Coldplay don’t come around here very often.

Because of mobility challenges, this was a special opportunity for my family and me. Now, I can’t help but feel like it’s been spoiled. I'm really disappointed.

A user on X pleaded with the band to schedule an additional show in Hull.

They mentioned, "Could you please schedule another date for Hull? Many of us had trouble accessing Ticketmaster because it required a code that we didn’t receive. When we finally managed to get in, all the tickets were already sold out."

Coldplay is scheduled to perform at Craven Park in Hull in 2025.

A few tickets were set aside for supporters who reside in the postal code regions HU, LN, DN, and YO.

Emma Parkinson, who secured a single ticket during the postcode pre-sale on Thursday, was unable to obtain additional tickets for her family.

She mentioned, "I feel a bit disappointed, but I'm completely thrilled about going. Nothing compares to seeing them perform right in my own city. I'm just speechless."

Ms. Parkinson attempted to secure a ticket for her ailing father.

When discussing the issue of ticket resales, she expressed her disappointment, stating, "It's truly disheartening. I don't understand why anyone would put in so much effort for that. It's just really unfortunate."

Freya Rhodes, a 21-year-old from Beverley, felt really crushed after attempting three separate sales and "not having any success whatsoever."

She mentioned that she had been hoping to watch Coldplay for quite a while, but she was holding out until the band played somewhere nearer to where she lives.

She was extremely upset that individuals were reselling tickets, expressing that the shows in Hull should be exclusively for local residents.

"It’s really frustrating to witness people reselling," she expressed.

Certain individuals advocated for more rigorous regulations concerning Ticketmaster accounts and the resale of tickets.

A user on X commented, "We need stricter regulations for Ticketmaster accounts as an initial measure to ensure that they are being used by genuine individuals. Following that, we should implement more rigorous laws for the rest of the industry!"

"I tried to get tickets during the pre-sale but didn’t succeed, and now it seems highly unlikely that I'll get them during the general sale for Hull, even though Craven Park is just a short 15-minute drive away!"

Adam Webb, the campaign manager for FanFair Alliance, an organization fighting against large-scale online ticket reselling, expressed his disappointment at the sight of many Coldplay tickets being resold on overseas websites.

It emphasizes the need for the Government to take action and ensure that fans have better protections, whether by banning the sale of tickets for profit or by putting a limit on resale prices.

"If that law isn’t put in place and properly enforced, this issue will continue to happen."

Coldplay will be performing 12 concerts in Hull and London next year, marking their only shows in Europe.
