BBC hosts namely Naga Munchetty and Clive Myrie have increased their revenues through lucrative amounts from speaking opportunities within the last three years.

When we took a close look at the list of happenings outside of the company, we found out that the host of BBC Breakfast, Ms Munchetty, received an additional payment of more than £155,000, in addition to her regular pay of about £335,000.

While the BBC has been publishing its register, Mr. Myrie, who hosts the news and Mastermind, has earned more than £130,000 from his external engagements.

Getting paid from external organizations can involve various roles such as acting as a host, giving speeches, conducting interviews, or being a part of a panel discussion.

According to statistics, Ms Munchetty, a 49-year-old woman, participated in four public speaking events, all of which paid her over £10,000. Additionally, she took part in 23 more engagements that paid between £5,000 and £10,000, which included jobs with Microsoft, Cunard, Veuve Clicquot, and Associated British Foods.

BBC Breakfast host Naga Munchetty received more than £155,000 for her talks and appearances in the last three years.

Mr Myrie, who is 59 years old, was paid 'more than £10,000' on five separate occasions. This includes for his work with the Guernsey Alzheimer's Association. It should be noted that his last reported salary with the BBC was £285,000.

He was paid a sum of money worth ' £5,000-£10,000' for appearing 13 times, which included appearances for Fujitsu- the company which caused the controversial Post Office scandal, People’s Postcode Lottery, and the Royal Academy of Engineering. Additionally, he was also paid smaller sums of money for other work.

Nick Robinson, aged 60, is a presenter for Radio 4 Today and earns approximately £275,000 from the BBC. He is also considered a high-earning individual due to his outside work.

According to the numbers that were made public, he got around £90,000 from working outside of his main job. In just one month, he earned over £30,000 from these external gigs.

Justin Webb, who works alongside him on Today, earns approximately £280,000 from the BBC. However, it has been reported that he earned an additional £79,000 at the very least.

Journalists like John Simpson, Kirsty Wark, Amol Rajan, and Mishal Husain, as well as ex-BBC personalities Emily Maitlis and Dan Walker, gained additional income through sources outside of their work for the BBC.

Clive Myrie, the host of Mastermind and BBC News, has earned a whopping £133,000 from speaking engagements since the start of this year.

In an effort to bolster impartiality within the organization, the BBC implemented the external events register in 2021.

The statistics indicate that Huw Edwards, who used to present News At Ten, was provided with a minimum of £125,000 in additional compensation.

He was suspended after allegations arose that he had exchanged money with a teenager for explicit photographs before resigning due to medical advice.

Companies that compensated Mr. Edwards, a 62-year-old male, who earned approximately £435,000 in salary from the BBC, encompassed the Business Champion Awards and the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.
