British radio host Vernon Kay has amassed over five million pounds for Children in Need as a result of finishing his ultra-marathon.

The disc jockey completed a four-day run from Leicester to Bolton, traveling a total of 116 miles.

As he crossed the finish line, Kay chatted with Zoe Ball, who hosts the Radio 2 breakfast show. He expressed that the experience had been a mixture of agony and elation, stating that it was one of the most excruciating and delightful moments of his life.

The current broadcast of BBC Children in Need's request for donations is presently live on the BBC One channel.

Kay reached the end of the race a few moments before 10:15 AM Greenwich Mean Time on Friday.

Kay was featured on the Radio 2 morning program with Zoe Ball after finishing the ultra marathon.

Kay has been going on live on Radio 2 often to keep the listeners informed about his journey after beginning the marathon on Tuesday.

"I am completely worn out, utterly drained, both in terms of my body and mind," exclaimed Kay upon reaching the ending point a few minutes before 10:15 GMT.

He jested, "Does anyone present possess the ability to substitute a knee?"

As he stepped onto the stage, the viewers of the Children in Need program cheered his name and were eager to hear the updated sum of funds he had collected through his hard work.

He faced a task that required him to visit certain popular places in Bolton, where he was born and raised. Among these locations was his former educational institution. He continued on until he finally completed the challenge at the end.

Kay expressed her gratitude for starting at St Joseph's first, as it provided a significant confidence boost for her. She explained that the experience left her feeling lifted and rejuvenated, which was exactly what she needed at the time.

He expressed to Ball that the journey has been a mixture of agony and delight. They have encountered individuals who have been incredibly generous with their donations. These encounters have been among the highlights of the experience.

Moving forward step by step is what has brought me to where I am now. A fantastic group of individuals have been instrumental in supporting me, constantly motivating me to strive for greatness.

As he departed on Tuesday, Kay, who is shown in the photo, has garnered a total of 4.1 million pounds for the charity organization Children in Need up to this point.

Kay became the fresh mid-morning presenter at the station in May, after Ken Bruce left.

On Friday, Kay made a playful remark about how the rain began as soon as he started racing towards the end point.

As we reached our destination, which some call God's country, a stunning sunrise greeted us. However, as I turned my head to the left, I noticed that the rain was falling persistently from the sky. It was hard to fathom that after travelling such a great distance, only eight miles away from Bolton, the rain decided to pour down heavily," he exclaimed.
