All the Details on Chappell Roan’s (Blonde! Bird!) Beauty for Jimmy Fallon

Chappell Roan

Chappell Roan, a highly respected artist in the music industry, made a special appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon last night. She looked absolutely stunning, making a lasting impression with her incredible beauty.

Fallon compliments Roan on her amazing on-stage outfits, showcasing a collection of her being dressed up extravagantly at events such as Governor's Ball, where she made a grand entrance as the Statue of Liberty.

"My stylist Genesis Webb and I take inspiration from drag, horror movies, burlesque, and theater - I like to look both beautiful and frightening," Roan shared. Tonight, the focus was on birds as the main source of inspiration. Roan revealed that she drew inspiration from the mood board of the 2003 film Barbie of Swan Lake. To bring the vision to life, her usual red curls were transformed into a bleach blonde mane by hairstylist Dom Forletta (whether it was a wig or her own hair remains a mystery), her eyebrows were block, and makeup artist Andrew Dahling strategically placed feathers around her eyes. During her time on the show, she showcased two feathered outfits, embodying both the White Swan queen Odette and the Black Swan Odile.

Forletta, in an exclusive interview, mentioned that the blonde hair really amplified the delicate and elegant look we wanted to achieve. Yes, it is a wig! We added a lot of extensions to make sure it matched the thickness of Chappell's natural hair. To create her famous curls, he utilized a combination of the ghd Thin Curling Wand and classic figure 8 waves with hairpins. And to add volume to the hair, he finished off the look with R&Co's Balloon Dry Volume Spray.

During the interview, Roan is chewing gum and tapping her nails painted by Juan Alvear—described as 6-inch claws. Alvear explains, “If you examine them closely, each nail resembles a feather quill. I created this effect using Artic Jelly and Buttercup Jelly from Essie, transitioning from solid to sheer, and incorporating striation details. I also attached long strands of ostrich feathers for a dramatic look. I wanted them to have a dynamic presence while Roan performed on stage.”

In her conversation with Fallon, the singer shared a fact about herself that seems fitting based on our previous interview at Coachella: if her music career didn't take off, she had aspirations to become an esthetician by going to school. We are curious to learn more about her skincare routine and hopefully she will share her beauty secrets in the future.
