SMCC Pebmarsh Dave Barkshire 2man Enduro Championship

Championship

The brave and resolute committee's decision to proceed with this longstanding event at Pebmarsh, despite receiving few entries and low attendance at some recent Enduro events, sparked a surge of last-minute registrations. This ensured that a solid group of competitors participated in the fourth round of the Dave Barkshire 2-Man Eastern Centre Enduro Championship.

It was an ideal late summer day, and the well-maintained course, which is only utilized once a year, offered fresh and appealing grass. The newly added quarry section featured sharp hills and steep drops, combined with varied terrain that included a narrow forested area and several ditches that challenged the balance of some participants. This was all followed by wide, fast stretches of stubble.

As the afternoon wore on, the heat increased and some familiar names swapped positions among the top contenders. In the clubman class, Eddie and Will Belton from the Sudbury MCC continued their impressive run, remaining undefeated in the series so far with a commanding victory, finishing two laps ahead of their competitors. They seem unbeatable in this Championship series. Ryan Mackintosh and Martin Jones secured second place, holding a 13-point lead over Tom Sutton and Zak Beards, who sit in third. Paul Belton and Graham Mays trail closely behind in fourth, just six points off the pace, while Will Partridge and Hadleigh Pye follow in fifth. In sixth, Ethan Johnson and Stanley Delany, who only competed in one round at Hawkedon in April, claimed second place there, giving them a total of 17 points. With two rounds left to go, there’s still a chance for rankings to shift, as only the clear leaders have managed to complete all the available races.

The Expert Class is tightly contested, with leaders Luke Barker and Ryan McDonnell each sitting at 68 points, just three points ahead of Albert Van Dyke and Jack Edwards, who have 65 points. Billy Sargeant, who missed out on points in the first round due to an injury, remains in third place with Liam Vant following closely with 36 points. Meanwhile, Jake Klimowicz and Jake Ward have 28 points, placing them above fifth-place competitors Sam Holroyd and Sam Nicholls, who are at 26 points. Fred Stearn and Shaun Leggett are close behind in sixth with 25 points.

In the Championship Class, Thomas Sargeant and Adam Durkin are leading the pack with 62 points. They are followed by Ed Pooley and Ross Taylor, who have 55 points. In third place are Sudbury Members Joe Phillips and Joe Henthorn with 45 points, having completed one fewer round than the leaders. Jack Sheppard and Toby Morley are currently in fourth place with 34 points from their two completed rounds. Meanwhile, Jamie Roper and Will Hughes, along with Ben Clark and Jack Nicolaou, have each earned 20 points, as they won the only completed round so far.
