County Championship Preview | Leicestershire vs Gloucestershire | News | Gloucestershire Cricket
After a much-needed victory over Northamptonshire, Gloucestershire set out on the road for the second week in a row in the Vitality County Championship on Friday.
Mark Alleyne's team will travel to Leicestershire for their sixth Division Two match. The team hopes that their recent win will give them the momentum to secure another victory at Grace Road. Leicestershire is currently in third place with five draws from their five games, and they have accumulated 68 points. Meanwhile, Gloucestershire sits in fifth place with 62 points, having recorded one win, one defeat, two draws, and one abandonment in the current season. The two teams are only separated by a narrow margin of six points.
Last weekend at Lord's, the Middlesex and Leicestershire teams had to settle for a draw as two whole days of play were abandoned due to unfortunate circumstances. On the other hand, Northants experienced a defeat at the hands of Gloucestershire, who put up their best Championship performance of the entire season. During the match, Cameron Bancroft and Miles Hammond were showstoppers with their batting skills, while Marchant de Lange was named the player of the match for securing eight wickets in an impressive haul.
If either team manages to win this weekend, they have the chance to move up the Division Two promotion rankings.
Beau Webster from another country is included in the team for the first time this season. Additionally, Matt Taylor, who was previously injured in his toe, is now a part of the team for the game. Miles Hammond and Cameron Bancroft, who managed to score a hundred each in the last game, are also part of the team again and they hope to score more runs in the next match that will take place at Grace Road.
The roster of 13 players who will compete against Leicestershire:
Here is a possible rewritten version in simpler English: The following are the names of the players who represented their team in the match: van Buuren (#c), Bancroft, Charlesworth L, Bracey, Webster, Taylor M, Price T, Middleton, Price O, Charlesworth B, Gohar, Hammond.
Last season, Gloucestershire didn't win any of the two league matches they played against Leicestershire in the County Championship. The most recent match, which took place in September, was particularly disappointing as Gloucestershire lost by six wickets at the Seat Unique Stadium. The game wasn't very high-scoring, but Leicestershire's Wiaan was the star of the match, taking eight wickets with his bowling efforts.
On Friday, May 17th at 11:00 AM, Gloucestershire and Leicestershire will compete in the Vitality County Championship Division Two at the Uptonsteel County Ground in Grace Road, Leicester.
