The two teams are only separated by a narrow margin of six points.

Last weekend at Lord's, the Middlesex and Leicestershire teams had to settle for a draw as two whole days of play were abandoned due to unfortunate circumstances. On the other hand, Northants experienced a defeat at the hands of Gloucestershire, who put up their best Championship performance of the entire season. During the match, Cameron Bancroft and Miles Hammond were showstoppers with their batting skills, while Marchant de Lange was named the player of the match for securing eight wickets in an impressive haul.
