In 2022, Celine Dion, known for her hit song "My Heart Will Go On," surprised everyone by announcing that she has been diagnosed with a rare and untreatable neurological disorder known as Stiff Person Syndrome.

Stiff Person Syndrome leads to stiffness in the body and limbs, as well as muscle spasms. Dion explained that this condition significantly affected her daily activities, making it hard for her to walk and sing the way she used to. In an emotional video shared on Instagram, she opened up about her struggle with the syndrome, expressing how it has impacted her life.

Currently, the artist is showing the reality of living with the medical condition in a new film called "I Am: Celine Dion", which has received a perfect score from critics on the review site Rotten Tomatoes.

Oscar-nominated director Irene Taylor helmed the movie, which tracks the journey of the Canadian celebrity as she comes to terms with her diagnosis. Dion disclosed that she began noticing signs of Stiff Person Syndrome 17 years ago. The documentary was described as "heart-breaking" by The Independent's music editor Roisin O'Connor, pointing to a scene where Dion suffers a severe seizure while attempting to record songs for the 2023 romantic comedy Love Again.
