Carlos Alcaraz put an end to Jannik Sinner's impressive streak of 19 consecutive victories, giving him the chance to go head-to-head with Daniil Medvedev in the Indian Wells final.

Sinner, champion of Australian Open, had the lead of 2-1 in the opening set of the competition. However, the game experienced a halt for three consecutive hours due to rain.

The first game was taken by the Italian team when they restarted, but then Alcaraz from Spain came back strong and won with a score of 1-6, 6-3, 6-2.

Medvedev from Russia managed to make a comeback after losing the first set of his semi-final match against American Tommy Paul. He went on to win the match by a score of 1-6, 7-6 (7-3), and 6-2.

This year's championship will once again feature the same match-up as the previous installment, with Alcaraz emerging as the clear victor.

"It's unbelievable for me to bring an end to something like this," expressed Alcaraz, who is ranked second in the world and is only 20 years old, amid his triumph over Sinner's winning streak.

I kept my mental fortitude intact - I believe it's a crucial aspect of this activity.

I am pleased with my performance in this type of game where I am losing and competing against an outstanding player.

"I tweaked my approach, modified my gameplay and the outcome was greatly positive,"

Sinner's performance decreased in the third set, where he committed 8 out of 15 unforced errors. On the other hand, Alcaraz had only two unforced errors in the final set.

Sinner, who holds the third spot in the global rankings at the age of 22, acknowledged that battling it out with his opponent is always a challenging feat, though it's not the outcome he had hoped for.

"I endeavored to play excellent tennis, which I accomplished, specifically in the initial set."

"Afterwards, I committed a few errors which resulted in a shift in the game's energy. He enhanced his performance level."

Alcaraz's ultimate goal is to come out victorious in the upcoming match against Medvedev, as he hasn't won a championship since his triumph at Wimbledon in the prior year.

"I am aware of how my performance was last year. Therefore, I will do my utmost to improve this year. I aim to play with greater skill and determination, staying within the boundaries of the game. I will strive to hit more aces and execute other strategic moves." stated the 28-year-old citizen of Russia.

"I'm optimistic that I can accomplish it."
