Carlos Alcaraz and Iga Swiatek, who both emerged victorious at the U.S. Open in 2022, are the top picks for this year's tournament set to start on August 26, according to the odds on the betting site bookmaker.eu.

Alcaraz, who is 21 years old, is aiming to win his third Grand Slam title of 2024. He already won Roland Garros and Wimbledon but lost to Novak Djokovic in the gold-medal match at the Paris Olympics.

Alcaraz, with odds of +142, is the second favorite to win. The top favorite is world No. 1 Jannik Sinner, who won the Australian Open, with odds of +250. In third place is Djokovic, the 24-time Grand Slam champion and recent Olympic victor, with odds of +282.

Daniil Medvedev, who won his first major title at the U.S. Open in 2021, is considered the fourth top pick, while Alexander Zverev, who was the runner-up in 2020, is next in line with slightly lower odds.

Alcaraz trails Sinner by 450 points in the ATP live race for the season finale in Turin. These year-to-date standings act as a way to track the battle for the year-end number one spot.

"It is clear that being in the top position is always a target for me whenever I compete, and the rankings are a crucial measure of success," Alcaraz explained. "If at the end of the year you finish as the top-ranked player, it's essentially the same as finishing as the overall No. 1."

"I am very dedicated to this goal. My main focus is to attend every tournament, perform well and achieve good results in order to improve my position in the rankings. Currently, one of my top priorities is to finish the year as the top-ranked player."

In the women's category, Swiatek, a five-time major champion and the world's number one player, is the most favored to win with odds of +300. Following behind her are two-time major winner Aryna Sabalenka with odds of +376, defending U.S. Open champion Coco Gauff and former Wimbledon winner Elena Rybakina, both with odds of +750.

Gauff suffered a surprise defeat on Thursday in the second round of the Cincinnati Open against Yulia Putintseva. As a result, she will fall to the No. 3 ranking in the world before the Open, placing behind Swiatek and Sabalenka.

Gauff's partner in doubles, Jessica Pegula, has odds of +1051, and Naomi Osaka, who has won four major tournaments, is at +1900.
