BYD to create 10,000 jobs with its new plant in Mexico - MEXICONOW

BYD

MEXICO - BYD intends to construct a factory in Mexico where it will generate approximately 10,000 employment opportunities, placing it in line with some of the biggest original equipment manufacturers in the country.

The big electric vehicle company is close to deciding on where to build their facility, and an announcement is expected soon, as stated by Jorge Vallejo, who is in charge of BYD in Mexico. However, it is unclear how many workers will be hired by BYD directly or by contractors and suppliers.

A factory as big as that would hire more workers than some other car manufacturers in the country, like Audi. Volkswagen's Puebla factory, which is the biggest in the country, has 6,100 workers on the assembly line and 5,000 supervisors, as well as many more people involved in putting the parts together.

The car company is on schedule to sell 50,000 vehicles in the country this year. Recently, BYD introduced its Shark hybrid truck in Mexico, showing that the country is becoming increasingly significant to the company.

At the start of 2024, Tesla revealed their sales from the year before. It was mentioned in the news that their Chinese rival, BYD, had sold more electric vehicles in the last quarter of 2023. Tesla sold 484,507 cars, but BYD managed to sell 526,409 electric vehicles. These numbers are impressive for two top companies in the growing electric car industry. This shows that electric vehicles are becoming more popular and will soon replace gas and diesel cars. This also highlights BYD's significance on a global scale.
