During the latest episode of The Great British Bake Off on Wednesday (18 October) night, the participants had to endure extremely hot weather conditions while inside the tent.

Once again, it appears that the bakers faced the challenge of Chocolate Week amidst scorching heat - the filming of the show takes place in Berkshire during the peak of the summer season.

Rowan did extremely well in the Signature challenge where the bakers were asked to create a unique version of a chocolate torte.

Nevertheless, in the Technical challenge where participants were required to prepare eight cheesecakes with blackcurrant compote and white chocolate topping, Tasha became unwell.

The contestant who is 27 years old and deaf became the first-ever of their kind in the show. They were overheard exclaiming, "It's extremely warm, I believe I require some fresh air," just before collapsing onto the ground.

Afterwards, a medical professional approaches Tasha and advises her to take slow breaths before leading her out of the tent.

After it was confirmed that she had to withdraw from the episode, host Alison Hammond provided comfort to her outside.

The Bake Off's official Twitter account shared that Tasha won't be participating in the Chocolate Week due to medical reasons. However, she will be returning in next week's show. The account also mentioned putting health as a priority and expressed their excitement to see Tasha back in the Tent after feeling better.

Tasha, who works as a participation officer in Bristol, has appeared on the show with the assistance of Daryl, who is there to interpret sign language.

After Tasha's departure, Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith, the judges, declared that they would halt eliminations until the following week. Nevertheless, two bakers will be dismissed during that installment.

Fans expressed dissatisfaction on X, regarding the choice of scheduling Chocolate Week during scorching weather.

The producers of #GBBO deserve credit for always scheduling chocolate week when it's scorching outside. One supporter stated that they never seem to miss the mark, giving them a perfect score of 10/10.

One person suggested, "Since the tent gets too hot every year, perhaps the foolish producers can consider buying an air conditioning unit?"

Isn't it strange how every time the #GBBO records chocolate week, the temperature is always super high? It's like a disaster waiting to happen in that tent. I enjoy watching the show, but I feel like they should avoid filming under such conditions. It would be more interesting to see how the bakers cope with standard weather.

At the same time, Hammond, who took over from Matt Lucas as the host in this current year, received compliments for endorsing Tasha.

Someone wrote that Alison is a kind person. They also expressed empathy for Tasha as someone who also experiences migraines.

"Oh no, poor Tasha. It's really great to see how compassionate Alison is," another person commented.

This week's episode of Bake Off was delayed by one day on Channel 4 because of the 2024 Euro qualifier game played on Tuesday night between England and Italy. England won the game 3-1.

Next week, the baking show will be back on Tuesday at 8pm.
