My goodwill didn’t extend to Aston Villa
In contrast to the previous season when I cheered for West Ham United to perform well in the Europa Conference (and they eventually emerged victorious), I did not root for Aston Villa in this year's tournament.
Aston Villa got beat badly at home in the first game of their semi-final match against Olympiakos.
The match ended with a score of 4-2 in favor of the Greek team, and this has left the Villans with a seemingly insurmountable challenge ahead of them.
Despite Aston Villa's commendable performance in the Premier League this season, securing a spot for next year's Champions League by placing fourth, Unai Emery may end up feeling disappointed should his team fail to advance in the Europa Conference.
Emery is a champion of continental competitions, having won the Europa League on four different occasions.
He was able to achieve a winning streak for three consecutive years, from 2013 to 2016, with Sevilla. Later on, he excelled in leading Villarreal and helped them secure their first ever significant championship in 2021.
It's not surprising that Unai Emery appeared to be the top pick for Newcastle United's fresh owners following our acquisition in 2021.
Newcastle won against Aston Villa twice this season with a total score of 8-2.
It's possible that we could take Aston Villa's place in the Conference for the upcoming season, while they take our place in the next Champions League.
Achieving qualification for any European competition will be a remarkable feat for Eddie Howe and his team at Newcastle United, considering the luck they have had throughout this season.
There's no need to keep stating the reasons why me and many other fans of Newcastle have a dislike for Aston Villa. It's safe to say that they feel the same about us, as their actions have consistently shown.
Honestly, while I was enjoying a late-night drink, I couldn't help but laugh at their outcome in the game against Olympiakos.
There are individuals, even those who back our club, who have the belief that Newcastle exceeded expectations in the previous season by securing fourth place.
I don't belong to that group.
I believed that our team was exceptional throughout the competition, and our position in the Champions League was truly earned.
Villa is also in the same boat now as they possess some impressive players. Additionally, they are fortunate enough to have Emery leading the team.
Newcastle United and Aston Villa pose a significant challenge to the Septic Six's control - especially to us. This is a well-known fact among them.
To conclude, let me pose this inquiry to all of you.
Do you think that cartel clubs would improve with a different manager like Eddie Howe or Unai Emery instead of their current underwhelming gaffers?
Let me briefly jog your memory...
