Late Watkins goal rescues Villa point against Brentford
In a single season of the Premier League, Ollie Watkins has now become the first player in Aston Villa's history to contribute to 28 goals, scoring 18 goals himself and assisting 10 more.
Aston Villa thought they had the game in the bag with a two-goal lead against Brentford in the Premier League, but they were soon proven wrong. After a frustrating turnaround, Ollie Watkins stepped up and saved the day by securing a last-minute draw for his team.
Watkins from Villa scored in the 39th minute after connecting with a cross from McGinn. He headed the ball with great force and managed to get it over the line.
After the start of the second half, Morgan Rogers scored the second goal for the home team in just 32 seconds. His shot went low and accurately into the corner of the net.
However, Brentford retaliated with three goals within a span of nine minutes in the second half. Initially, Mikkel Damsgaard's pass into the box was redirected into the net by Mathias Jorgensen's foot just a few minutes before the sixty-minute mark.
The Bees were able to equalize the game just two minutes later with Bryan Mbeumo scoring a spectacular volley from Sergio Reguilon's well-placed cross.
Brentford took the lead in the 68th minute by Yoana Wissa scoring a goal after receiving a pass from Reguilon which went across the goal at a low angle.
Watkins prevented the visitors from clinching their first victory in nine games by scoring a header to level the score with only 10 minutes left in the match.
Villa is still in fourth place, with three points ahead of Tottenham who are in fifth place. However, Villa has played two more games than Tottenham. Brentford, on the other hand, now sits in 16th place, with a comfortable six points lead from the relegation zone.
"Villa Saved By Watkins' Heroics"
Aston Villa appeared to be on a smooth sail towards securing only their second league win in the past five matches. This was after Rogers scored his inaugural goal for the team, which increased their lead.
During a period of more than nine difficult minutes, the team allowed Brentford to make a comeback by successfully executing three well-executed passes into the box. They were once again depending on their star player Watkins to save them during the final moments.

Brentford Still Unable To Win
Brentford is the Premier League team that has lost the most points this season from winning positions, with a total of 30 points lost.
Furthermore, they have been unable to secure a victory in any of their recent competitions, following their triumph against Wolves by a score of 2-0 on February 10th.
During their recent games, the Bees showed impressive displays against renowned teams like Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United. Moreover, they displayed their superiority during their game at Villa Park on Saturday, where they dominated much of the second half.
Jorgensen scored his debut goal for the team, while Mbeumo ended his dry spell by scoring his first goal in four months.
Mbeumo was included in the starting lineup instead of Ivan Toney, an English striker, who only made an appearance in the 81st minute. However, despite Toney's efforts to score a winning goal, Brentford decided to adopt a more defensive strategy towards the end of the game.
The guests will feel disappointed for not being able to maintain their impressive comeback. They aim to break their streak of not winning when they play against Sheffield United at home in a week's time.
