U.S. Bases in Europe Go to Higher State of Alert

Alert

Military leaders in Europe have increased the readiness level of bases, according to Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh from the Pentagon.

Singh declined to discuss intelligence issues, but she mentioned that U.S. commanders in Europe heightened their level of concern due to a variety of factors, rather than just one specific threat.

She mentioned that those elements could affect the well-being and protection of military personnel and their loved ones living in that area.

The U.S. European Command is making sure to be extra careful for our military personnel, their families, and our buildings," she stated at a briefing in the Pentagon. "We are doing this as a precaution, but I will not provide any further details at this time."

There are many important events happening in Europe, such as the 2024 European football tournament and the upcoming Olympics in Paris. Singh emphasized the importance of ensuring that service members and their families are taking necessary precautions due to the various events taking place.

In other updates, Singh mentioned that the temporary pier called Joint Logistics Over-the-Shore is currently located in the Port of Ashdod in Israel due to unfavorable sea conditions near Gaza. Singh stated that they are still evaluating when it can be moved back to its original position. He also mentioned that once the sea conditions improve, they will give a further update on the situation.

The World Food Program and other organizations are providing assistance to Palestinians from the marshaling yards. Singh noted that there were delays in the distribution process, but efforts are being made to move the aid out of the marshaling area over the next few days.
