Gavin and Stacey

It's been officially announced by the BBC that the final episode of the successful TV show, Gavin and Stacey, is going to air on Christmas Day.

The series has gained a massive following, with over 25% of people in the UK tuning in to watch it. It has become the most well-loved scripted show of the past decade. After leaving fans hanging off a cliff five years ago, the series is finally making its last comeback.

The writers and actors James Corden and Ruth Jones marked the completion of the final script for their show by sharing a post together on Instagram.

Here's another way to say it: Exciting news! The last episode of Gavin and Stacey has been written and it's now official! Tune in on BBC One this Christmas Day to catch it. Ruth and James can't wait to share it with you.

The BBC has announced that the highly anticipated Christmas Day episode of Gavin and Stacey will be airing on BBC One and iPlayer. This announcement was made in reference to a famous takeaway order made by James Corden's character, Smithy, which included a variety of dishes such as chicken bhuna, lamb bhuna, prawn bhuna, mushroom rice, bag of chips, keema naan, and nine poppadoms. Fans of the show are eagerly awaiting the last-ever episode, which promises to be a festive treat.

The funny TV show follows Gavin and Stacey, who are played by Mathew Horne and Joanna Page, respectively. They try to make their love work despite being in a long-distance relationship. The series is based in Billericay, Essex and Barry, Wales.

The television program aired for three seasons between 2007 and 2010. It made a comeback in 2019, presenting a holiday-themed episode that concluded with a marriage proposal that was left unresolved.

Towards the end of the episode, Jones's character Nessa got down on one knee and proposed to Smithy. However, the audience was left in suspense as his response was not revealed.

The show's latest episode broke its previous viewing record and had the greatest success in holiday ratings in over ten years, with a whopping 11.6 million viewers.

Before, Jones denied the gossip that the show would come back. The performer from Wales declared on RTÉ Radio 1 in February that it was "unfortunately just a rumor."

In this show, you can see Alison Steadman and Larry Lamb acting as Gavin's dad, Mick, and mom, Pam, respectively. Melanie Walters and Rob Brydon bring to life Stacey's mom, Gwen, and her strange uncle, Bryn.

During its period, it transitioned from being aired on BBC Three to BBC One and obtained recognition like Bafta and British comedy awards.

During the peak of the show's fame in 2009, Brydon attained the top position on UK music charts along with Sir Tom Jones and Robin Gibb for the song (Barry) Islands in the Stream, which was published to assist Comic Relief.

Last year, Corden decided to leave his position as the host of the Late Late Show and Carpool Karaoke at CBS. He had been working in the United States for eight years prior to this decision.
