Travellers who were supposed to fly from Bermuda to London on the weekend had to leave their plane when a bomb threat was sent to LF Wade international airport via email.

Passengers who were waiting had to leave the area after a danger was reported on Sunday evening at 8:50pm.

A representative from the Bermuda police service stated that nearby roads were shut down to automobiles while airport security conducted a thorough search of the airport and its surrounding area.

The airport staff at LF Wade International Airport notified the police of a bomb threat that was sent through an email. Additionally, they informed the authorities that they had immediately started the emergency landing procedures at the airport.

"After the authorities confirmed that the airport is safe, the normal traffic resumed accordingly."

All of the travelers were declared to be unharmed, but the departure of the aircraft was postponed until the following day after sundown.

The airplane was scheduled to take off from Bermuda and fly to London on Monday evening.

According to a representative from British Airways who spoke to The Independent, the wellbeing of our passengers and staff is our utmost concern. We adhered to our usual protocol in order to ensure everyone exited the plane safely.
