Xbox Live Goes Down in Major Outage

Xbox

Xbox Live, a network for playing games and streaming media created by Microsoft, was experiencing a significant issue on Tuesday. Many users were unable to access the network and reported difficulties.

At 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, there was a sudden increase in user complaints about Xbox Live, according to Downdetector. By 2:25 p.m., over 23,000 reports of outages had been received by the site. Most of the reports mentioned difficulties logging in. Some users mentioned seeing an error message stating that the service was being updated.

Additional services owned by Microsoft, such as Minecraft and the Microsoft Store, also received a significant number of user complaints on Downdetector.

The official Xbox Support account mentioned on X at 2:55 pm. ET that they are aware of some users being disconnected from Xbox Live and are currently investigating the issue. Users were advised to check the Xbox status page, which later updated to report a major outage of the "Account & profile" service at 2:07 p.m. ET. The message on the status page stated that users may experience difficulties signing in to their Xbox profile, being disconnected while signed in, or other related issues. It also mentioned that features requiring sign-in, such as games, apps, and social activities, may not be available during this outage.

Microsoft needs users to have an Xbox Live account (which doesn't cost anything to create) in order to play games online and explore other features on the Xbox console, Windows PC, and Xbox mobile apps.

Xbox Live gamers went on social media to express their frustration over the technical issues.

Hey XboxSupport, I'm having trouble logging in. YouTube isn't working and I can't play games. What's going on with Xbox/Microsoft? ????

Hey @XboxSupport, do you know what's going on? It's been 20 minutes and I still can't log in. I was able to log in earlier today. Also, I'm having trouble reporting the outage on the Microsoft website. ????

Is there an issue with Xbox Live currently? I have restarted my Xbox Series X a few times and I am still encountering this error.
