Wrexham vs Yeovil Town

Wrexham achieved a comfortable 3-0 victory against Yeovil Town in the Second Round of the Emirates FA Cup, thanks to early goals from Ollie Palmer and Andy Cannon. They will move forward to face Shrewsbury Town in the following round.

In the 14th minute, Ollie Palmer secured his sixth goal of the season for Wrexham by putting away the rebound from his own shot, giving them the lead.

Andy Cannon scored his second goal in two games for Wrexham, breaking almost a year-long drought without a competitive goal. He slammed a powerful volley past the goalkeeper, Joe Day, just before half-time, extending Wrexham's lead.

At the end of the game, Sam Dalby - who came in for another player- scored the third goal by cleverly chipping the ball past the advancing Yeovil goalkeeper.

Wrexham won the game and advanced to the Third Round of the Emirates FA Cup. They will now face an old rival, Shrewsbury Town.

Wrexham and Yeovil faced each other in April, with Wrexham winning and Yeovil being relegated from the National League. This victory brought Wrexham one step closer to winning the title.

Phil Parkinson decided to make a modification to the team that played against Harrogate Town, by bringing in Mark Howard as the goalkeeper due to Arthur Okonkwo's injury at the EnviroVent Stadium.

After a surprising loss to Welling United in the National League South last week, Mark Cooper made the decision to make two alterations to his team line-up. Charlie Cooper and Duncan Idehen were chosen to start the match for the Glovers.

The game began slowly for both teams, however Wrexham managed to score first in the 14th minute.

Cannon kept up his impressive performance by making a precise pass to Palmer, who tried to score with his head, but Day struggled to block the ball away. The ball bounced and happened to reach the Wrexham player with the number nine, who then made it into a goal to put Wrexham in front.

The guests had a strategic approach to attacking, and finally managed to make a shot on goal after 36 minutes. Cooper kicked the ball towards the top right corner from outside the box, which caused Howard to have to stretch to save the ball from going in the net.

The Glovers had a great chance to score before the first half ended. Jordan Young took a free-kick from 25 yards away and hit it hard, but the ball hit the post and went out of bounds for a goal kick.

However, the first half still had more chances for the team. Cannon got hold of Idehen's clearance with his head and launched a powerful volley from within the Yeovil D. The ball bounced its way through the box and went past the carefree Day to increase Parkinson's team's lead.

As half time approached, Wrexham had scored two goals and headed to the locker room feeling confident. The Glovers, on the other hand, were disappointed with themselves for not taking advantage of their missed chances.

The guests required a speedy beginning to the latter portion of the game and nearly obtained it with Cooper's help. Cannon's clearance, which was made in the Wrexham box, was inadequate while being pushed by Jordan Young. This, in turn, permitted Cooper to fire a long-range shot.

The Glovers had a brief comeback, but Wrexham quickly regained control of the game by preventing their opponents from having possession of the ball.

Following a remarkable pass from James Jones, who came in as a substitute, Paul Mullin attempted a shot at the goal, making it the first significant effort by Wrexham after Cannon’s goal. He approached the Yeovil box while closely marked by his opponent and shot an unimpressive strike right into the hands of Day.

In the 83rd minute, James McClean came close to scoring his third goal after Wrexham played around with the confused Yeovil defenders. A replacement player named Luke Young made three Yeovil defenders ineffective by sending a cross to the back-post where Elliot Lee passed the ball to McClean. However, the impending third goal was stopped by Michael Smith who did a great job of recovering and blocking it.

Towards the end of the game, the third goal was scored. McClean made a through pass that easily passed by the falling Jake Wannell. Dalby, who came in as a substitute, successfully managed to score by cleverly lifting the ball over the advancing goalkeeper Day. The ball then bounced into the Yeovil net.

The game came to an end and Wrexham made it to the next round of the Emirates FA Cup, crushing any hopes Yeovil had of causing an upset.
