India beat NZ to reach final after Kohli record century

World Cup

The ICC Men's Cricket World Cup saw an impressive performance from India as they scored 397 for 4 in 50 overs. The top scorers were Virat Kohli with 117 runs from 113 balls, Shreyas Iyer with 105 runs from 70 balls, and Shubman Gill with 80 runs from 66 balls. The New Zealand team tried to bounce back but managed to score only 327 runs in 48.5 overs. The top scorers were Mitchell with a score of 134 runs from 119 balls and Williamson with 69 runs from 73 balls. Shami of the Indian team scored an impressive 7-57, helping India secure a 70-run victory. The scorecard reflects the extraordinary performance by the Indian team.

On a remarkable night in Mumbai, India secured their place in the World Cup finals by resisting New Zealand. The evening was made all the more memorable by Virat Kohli's achievement of a record-breaking 50th century in one-day internationals.

Kohli, a famous cricket player, surpassed Sachin Tendulkar's hundred record as India scored an impressive 397-4.

However, New Zealand posed a threat to dampen the celebratory atmosphere of the hosts at the Wankhede Stadium.

Daryl Mitchell achieved a remarkable 100 runs and partnered with captain Kane Williamson to accumulate 181 runs in 149 balls. They silenced the passionate home crowd and provided an opportunity for the New Zealand team to potentially win, despite being considered unlikely.

The Indian cricket team was under a lot of stress as the New Zealand players had scored 220 runs for two wickets. However, Mohammed Shami was able to take out two key players - Williamson who had scored 69 runs and Latham who had been dismissed without scoring any runs in just two deliveries. This happened in the 33rd over of the innings.

Glenn Phillips batted for 33 balls and scored 41 runs which gave New Zealand a small possibility to win, but unfortunately he got caught out. Mitchell then got caught out by Shami when he scored 134 runs.

Shami, who is a quick bowler, had an outstanding performance, having taken seven wickets while only conceding 57 runs - which is the highest number of wickets ever taken by an Indian in ODI history. As a result, New Zealand's innings ended with a score of 327, which means they were 70 runs behind the total score.

Kohli smoothly scored 117 runs from 113 balls, whereas Shreyas Iyer made a quick century, hitting 105 runs in just 70 balls and smashing eight sixes.

India will be competing for their first World Cup championship since their victory on their own land back in 2011. This Sunday, they will face either Australia or South Africa in an exciting and memorable final match held in Ahmedabad.

The next semi-final will take place in Kolkata on Thursday at 8:30 in the morning according to Greenwich Mean Time.

"Kohli's Unforgettable Day"

Upon scoring his 100th run, Kohli, who is 34 years old, knelt down and paid homage to the executive boxes where Tendulkar, his idol from childhood, was seated.

10 years ago on this same field, Tendulkar played his final game for India.

There are certain things that are predetermined or fated.

Kohli began his innings by progressing cautiously to reach fifty in 59 deliveries, as skipper Rohit Sharma set the stage with a quickfire knock of 47 runs in just 29 balls. Shubman Gill also played a crucial role, scoring an unbeaten 80 off 66 deliveries. However, he had to take a break midway due to a hamstring injury.

During the game, New Zealand challenged a decision for lbw against Kohli on his second ball of the innings, but upon reviewing the footage using technology, it was revealed that there was a slight inside edge from the bat.

An amazing shot from Kohli where he drove the ball into the air for four off Trent Boult started a shift in the speed of the game. Kohli then continued the momentum by effortlessly hitting a six over mid-wicket and straight into the stands.

The moment that scared him the most was during the 91st minute of the game when his hamstring cramped up, causing him to pause. Despite this setback, there were additional tense moments while in the 90s, such as a close call for being run out and a drive that nearly hit the extra cover. However, nothing could prevent Kohli from achieving his success.

He got caught eventually at deep square-leg. But before that, he beat Tendulkar's record by scoring the highest number of runs in a single World Cup. He managed to score three centuries during this championship.

No matter what occurs on Sunday, his position as one of the greatest of all time is already assured.

Mitchell's Magic Can't Save Kiwis

Despite being the underdogs, New Zealand had a chance to win as India was struggling while defending. They had to achieve a difficult target, which was the second-highest in ODI history.

India has not been successful in the last four semi-finals they have played in World Cups. In their recent match, they gave away 30 extra runs due to poor fielding and twice gave away runs by misfielding the ball. Moreover, Shami, a fielder, had an opportunity to dismiss Williamson at the score of 52, but he missed the opportunity by dropping a straightforward catch.

Mitchell was exceptional. He hit two massive straight sixes, including a 107-meter hit, which was the largest of the tournament.

The hosts were fortunate that Shami performed exceptionally well. Shami managed to dismiss Devon Conway with his initial delivery and Rachin Ravindra soon after that. Later, he gave two crucial strikes in a single over.

Williamson got caught at deep square leg and in the next two balls Latham was struck in front.

During a cricket match, with New Zealand requiring 132 runs to win in 60 balls, Phillips brilliantly scored 20 runs in a single over bowled by Mohammed Siraj.

Phillips was dismissed when he hit the ball to the outer field, caught by Jasprit Bumrah. Justly enough, Shami was able to take the last two wickets, initiating a celebration for the Indian team.

Initially, Shami couldn't participate in the first four matches. However, he has now taken over the lead with 23 wickets in the present tournament.

Even though India is not performing at their highest level on the field, they are still advancing.

To Staying Calm In A Challenging Situation

According to the Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma, he has had plenty of experience playing cricket on this particular ground. Consequently, he is all too aware that there is no room for complacency or relaxation, regardless of the score.

We were aware that there would come a time when we would feel under pressure. Our main focus was to stay composed and not let our emotions take over. We managed to achieve this by remaining tranquil and collected despite making errors in the field.

"Daryl Mitchell and Kane Wiliamson demonstrated exceptional batting skills. It was crucial for us to remain composed throughout the game. We attempted various strategies, and Mohammed Shami's performance was superb."

Kane Williamson, the captain of New Zealand, praised India for their exceptional performance in the tournament and acknowledged that their latest game was their finest one yet.

Keeping up the effort throughout the fight was commendable. Although getting eliminated in the knockout stages is upsetting, I take great pride in the determination and energy we put into our performance as a team for the past seven weeks.

The top performer of the game, a swift bowler from India named Mohammed Shami, said that he had been eager to get an opportunity to play. He hadn't participated in many limited-overs cricket matches.

In the past two occurrences of the World Cup, we were unsuccessful in reaching the finals. It is uncertain when or if we will have another opportunity, which is why we were adamant about putting in the utmost effort to ensure we do not allow this one opportunity to slip away.
