U18 report | Wolves 1-1 Forest

Wolves

The under-18 team of Wolves earned a tie by drawing 1-1 with Nottingham Forest at Compton Park on Saturday.

Richard Walker's team continue their unbeaten streak to three games in the under-18 Premier League, and their striker, Dani Angel, managed to score in two consecutive games.

At the beginning of the match, the forward scored the first goal in less than six minutes. However, the opposing team managed to equalize before the first half was over. In the second half, both teams tried to secure a victory but unfortunately had to settle for a tie.

The Old Gold team initiated the beginning of the game with more energy, having control of the ball early on. They received a deserved outcome after taking advantage of their first opportunity.

Caden Voice sent a well-placed long pass beyond the defensive line of Forest. This allowed Angel to approach the goal with the ball. Though a defender was coming, the number nine displayed impressive power to maintain control and then struck the ball decisively into the nearby side of the net, scoring the first goal of the game.

After that, the guests entered the match with the intention to react. Lewis Brown made a good turn at the edge of the penalty area, but missed the target with his shot. Shortly after, in the 19th minute, he missed a headed chance from Jimmy Sinclair's cross.

However, at the 30-minute mark, Forest managed to equalize the score. This occurred when Danny Anijsko reached the sideline and found Alfie Bradshaw, who skillfully kicked the ball into the net from the inside of the area using his side foot.

On the opposite side, Wolves came close to regaining their lead as Tom Edozie received a long pass and maneuvered around the advancing goalkeeper. However, his attempt to score from beyond the box was cleared off the goal line.

Edozie made another key contribution to the game as he pressed fervently to regain possession on the outskirts of the penalty area. He then went on to take a well-placed shot towards the goal, only for it to be saved by the opposition's goalkeeper.

The game between Wolves and Nottingham Forest is currently at half-time with both teams scoring one goal each.

Following the break, Wolves resumed their dominance and had two near misses in the beginning. They continued to apply excellent pressure, resulting in Minkyu Ji acquiring possession of the ball inside the penalty box. Despite his effort to pass it to Angel for an easy goal, the goalkeeper intervened and prevented it from happening.

Soon after that, Ji was once again a provider when he passed the ball to Fraser Harper. Harper then took a shot from a difficult angle but the goalkeeper managed to make the save.

As the game approached its one-hour mark, an opening emerged when Mason Reed swiftly sent a tempting pass that Angel jumped up to head but unfortunately missed, sending the ball over the bar.

During the 73rd minute of the match, Hayden Carson sent a long ball towards the Forest defense, catching them off guard. Testimony Igbinoghene managed to get to the ball ahead of the goalkeeper, but his attempt to score with a high lob missed the target and went wide of the post.

With only two minutes left on the clock, Finn Ashworth took the ball and ran solo towards the goal. However, the shot he fired from outside the box was saved. Despite this, Wolves were determined to keep up the momentum from their impressive second half display and keep hunting for a winning goal.

Despite dominating the latter half of the match, Wolves were almost dealt a crushing blow at the very end. A set-piece from the left wing was lofted into the penalty area, where Henry James rose to meet it and sent a thunderous shot off the crossbar at the 98th minute mark.

The game ended with a tie at 1-1 and Wolves demonstrated impressive football skills. They seemed to have a better chance of winning in the second half of the game.

All through the game, Wolves and Nottingham Forest played hard and at the end of it all, there was a draw with a scoreline of 1-1. Both teams put in their best performances, giving it everything they had. Even though there was no winning team, the game was still exciting to watch and full of action.
