Wolves have introduced a new position called PDP Technical Lead as part of restructuring their Academy Coaching staff. The role was created by dividing the previous Head of Academy Coaching position into two separate roles.

After Mike Scott left for Birmingham City in June, Darren Ryan stepped in to become the new Head of Coaching and Player Development for the Under-9s to 16s at the Academy. This change comes after Darren previously held the position of Head of Academy Player Development.

The new leader of PDP will concentrate on the Professional Development Phase for players aged 17 to 21. This role will involve overseeing strategic planning, coach training, and player advancement.

The job is being promoted on TGG and the duties involve "making sure that the Players Individual Learning Plans are carried out, creating Coaching Development Action Plans, and playing a big part in the analysis & implementation of the Academy Coaching Philosophy and Player Pathway Plan."

Football Academy Manager, Jon Hunter-Barrett, shared with TGG: "When the position of Head of Coaching became available, we decided to approach it in a new way. We divided the role into two parts, with Darren overseeing players aged 9 to 16."

The new Technical Lead will concentrate on mentoring and improving players, while also being highly strategic, with a significant impact on the evaluation and implementation of the Academy Coaching Philosophy and Pathway Plan.
