Ivan Toney on target again as struggling Brentford stun toothless Wolves

Ivan Toney, who has been in excellent form, scored another goal to help Brentford secure a well-deserved victory against Wolves. This marks Toney's third goal in four games since returning from his suspension for breaking betting rules. He sealed a 2-0 triumph at Molineux after Christian Nørgaard's header in the first half.

The Bees secured their third victory out of twelve games in the Premier League, and they avenged their defeat against Wolves when they lost 4-1 in December and were eliminated from the FA Cup last month. Despite Pedro Neto's two attempts hitting the post and Craig Dawson's disallowed goal due to offside, Wolves were unable to score at Molineux in the league for the first time in a year.

Brentford rose to 14th place on the table after securing their first away victory since October. Despite dominating the game and creating several opportunities to score, they only managed to secure a single goal. Their opponents, Wolves, sit in 10th place but were lucky not to suffer a heavier defeat after their goalkeeper, Jose Sa, made several errors which could have led to more goals for Brentford. The first chance came in just 11 minutes when Sergio Reguilón took advantage of Sa's mistake, but Sa was able to make amends and save the shot from Neal Maupay.

The striker missed the goal badly and Sa stopped Maupay's attempt from the corner. Matheus Cunha, who scored three goals in the win against Chelsea last week, had to leave the game after a difficult fall. It almost became even worse for Wolves when the Bees had a great opportunity but failed to score.

Reguilón's ground pass created difficulties and Rayan Aït-Nouri prevented Nathan Collins from scoring at the far post. However, the ball fell to Mads Roerslev who missed the target with his shot. This situation served as a cautionary tale for Wolves as Brentford posed a greater threat. Maupay had an opportunity to score but failed to capitalize on it, shooting straight at Sa despite making his way into the box.

The people who came to watch the game kept looking for chances, and eventually they scored a goal in the 35th minute using a predefined strategy. Looking at it from the perspective of the opposing team, Wolves, it was not good because Nørgaard easily pushed aside Dawson's poor attempt to stop him, and headed the ball in with Sa nowhere near it, after Reguilón took the corner.

Brentford had a rightful advantage, however, they relied on Mark Flekken to preserve it when he redirected Neto's header onto the post moments before halftime. The striker wasn't fortunate as his redirected shot hit the post again only four minutes into the second half. A minute later, Neto believed he had produced an equalizer.

Brentford couldn't get the ball out of their territory after the corner kick, and when the Portugal player received it back, he made a great pass that was headed into the net by Dawson. However, VAR technology showed that the play was very close and offside was called. This decision made the Wolves players even more motivated, but they still found it difficult to create good opportunities to score. Aït-Nouri tried a header that went over the bar, and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde missed the target with his shot, but neither attempt was able to trouble Flekken.

The team who was leading started to lose some energy, but Toney still managed to shoot towards Sa from far away with only 17 minutes left. After three more minutes had passed, he scored again, even though he had been uninvolved for most of the game. This time, he scored with a delicate touch after receiving a pass from Vitaly Janelt, who had crossed it into the box. The goal came after the Wolves team made a mistake and lost possession of the ball, and it ultimately secured the win for the hosts.
