On Sunday, a yellow wind alert has been announced for Devon and Cornwall, as a new low-pressure system is expected to bring powerful northwesterly winds.
The Met Office reported that wind gusts between 50 and 60 mph (80 to 96 km/h) are anticipated along the northwestern coasts, with the possibility of reaching up to 70 mph (112 km/h) in the moorland areas.
Rainfall is expected, and there may be instances of hail and thunder in certain areas.
The Met Office recommended that people check the road conditions prior to traveling and suggested getting ready at home by having flashlights and batteries on hand in case there is a power outage.
It advised people going to the coast to prioritize safety and stay alert for big waves. It also recommended being cautious when walking close to cliffs and to dial 999 in case of an emergency, requesting the Coastguard.
The alert will be in effect starting from 00:01 on Sunday until 21:00 GMT. However, the weather is anticipated to be more calm on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Anyone using public transportation should try to look at bus and train schedules before heading out whenever they can.
