On Saturday morning, the Met Office issued a Yellow alert for the South East as Storm Bert made its way toward the area.
The most intense winds were predicted for the coastal areas over the weekend, particularly on Saturday and Sunday, where gusts could reach 60-70 mph in open areas. In the inland regions, gusts of 50-60 mph were expected as well.
In a statement, the Met Office emphasized the need to safeguard buildings and avoid harm to individuals.
The announcement advised: "Look for any loose items around your house and think about ways to secure them. This includes things like trash bins, patio furniture, trampolines, tents, storage sheds, and fences."
To minimize the risk of delays, make sure to check the road conditions if you're driving, or review the bus and train schedules. Adjust your travel plans as needed.
The harsh weather is expected to improve in South West England and Wales by Sunday morning; however, strong winds might persist in the Surrey and Hampshire areas until Sunday night.
