UK weather: Wind warning issued by Met Office after week of heavy rain and floods
A wind warning has been announced for Wales and southwest England on Sunday following heavy rainfall that has affected various areas of the UK this week.
The yellow alert includes Cardiff and West Wales, along with the majority of the South West, stretching from Weston Super Mare in the north down to Swanage in the south, and reaching all the way to Penzance in Cornwall.
The Met Office states that it will start at 9 AM on Sunday and continue until midnight.

The advisory indicated that Sunday will begin with dry and clear conditions across much of the country. However, rain and wind will later approach from the South West.
Wind gusts are expected to reach as high as 55 mph in impacted areas, and may even hit 60 mph along exposed coastal regions.
The Met Office reports that strong winds will bring intermittent rain, potentially causing standing water on roads and disruptions to public transportation.
Winds will slowly die down in Wales and the inland areas of southwest England by Sunday evening. However, the weather agency cautioned that it could still be quite blustery along certain coastlines during the night.
In their forecast for Monday through Wednesday, the Met Office mentioned that the weather will stay "unsettled" at the beginning of next week, featuring "heavy rainfall, brisk winds, and cooler temperatures."
Conditions will gradually improve from the west as we progress through Tuesday and into Wednesday.
This follows a week of intense rainfall and flooding throughout the UK, prompting the Met Office to issue an amber warning.

Due to the heavy rains, areas in central and southern England have received over two and a half times their usual September rainfall.
The Environment Agency reported that approximately 650 homes experienced flooding in Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire, and the surrounding areas of the Home Counties.

Regions impacted by the intense rainfall comprised Milton Keynes, Oxfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Leicestershire, and the West Midlands, all of which experienced sudden flooding.
The Met Office reported that these areas might have received between 30 to 40mm of rain in just three hours.
