UK weather: Met Office issues yellow wind warning as 60mph gusts could bring 'dangerous conditions'
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather alert for strong winds as gusts of 60mph could create "hazardous conditions" in certain areas of the UK.
Parts of northern Wales, northern England, and southern Scotland will experience harsh weather conditions from 1am to 9am on Thursday.
A new yellow warning has been issued for heavy rain in western Scotland, starting on Wednesday morning and continuing until 8am on Thursday.
Weather experts have predicted that certain areas, like Glasgow, may experience 75-100mm (3-4in) of rainfall within one day, with the possibility of up to 150mm (6in) in higher elevations.
This may lead to challenging driving conditions, travel delays, and possibly flooding in certain areas.

On Thursday, the strong winds will make the situation even more difficult. The Met Office is cautioning that the gusts will be powerful enough to knock over some trees, especially since they are currently covered in leaves.
In a recent announcement on their website, the Met Office stated that there will be strong winds from the southwest early on Thursday, but they will gradually calm down from the west in the morning.
Wind speeds of 50mph are expected in many areas, with some locations experiencing gusts as strong as 60mph. This includes exposed areas like roads and bridges in north Wales, as well as roads that pass through high ground in northern England and southern Scotland.
Residents living near the ocean were advised to "take precautions" and to be "mindful of high waves" as weather experts warned that the strong winds could cause problems with transportation and electricity outages.
According to the Met Office, the lingering effects of Hurricane Ernesto, which traveled through the North Atlantic recently, will contribute to the wet and gusty conditions.

He stated that strong winds will be present along with the rain, reaching speeds of 50-60mph near the Irish Sea coasts and western Scotland.
