New Wind Warning Issued For Storm Bert

A yellow wind alert will be in effect starting at 11:00 GMT on Sunday.

A yellow alert for strong winds due to Storm Bert is now in place throughout Northern Ireland.

On Saturday, several houses in Down and Tyrone suffered flooding due to intense rainfall and strong winds brought on by the storm.

The wind alert will be in effect until 6 PM and could lead to travel delays and possible power outages.

During the height of Storm Bert on Saturday, Northern Ireland Electricity (NIE) reported that 6,500 residences and businesses throughout Northern Ireland experienced power outages.

Rail services were also affected, with some routes between Belfast and Dublin being canceled due to flooding.

The Met Office has forecasted that winds ranging from 45 to 55 mph are likely to occur on Sunday, with gusts potentially reaching up to 65 mph.

On Saturday, Ballypatrick in County Antrim experienced the highest winds in Northern Ireland, reaching speeds of 67 mph.

"Yellow Alert Issued For The Republic"

Met Éireann, the Irish Meteorological Service, has announced a yellow wind warning for several counties in the Republic of Ireland, set to start at 8:00 AM local time.

In the counties of Clare, Kerry, and Galway, this alert will be in effect until 7:00 PM on Sunday.

In Leitrim, Mayo, and Sligo, the warning will remain active until 2:00 AM on Monday, while in County Donegal, it will be in effect until 8:00 AM.

The agency has issued a warning about challenging travel conditions, along with reports of downed trees and scattered debris.

On Saturday, the weather service issued its highest warning level, red alerts, for heavy rainfall in western Cork and western Galway.

During the height of the storm, 60,000 customers of ESB in the Republic of Ireland experienced power outages.

Some areas in Northern Ireland experienced over fifteen days' worth of rain this past weekend.

Derrylin, located in County Fermanagh, experienced 65.2mm of rainfall from 6:00 PM GMT on Friday until 6:00 AM on Sunday.

That's just 53% of the typical rainfall expected in Northern Ireland throughout the entire month of November.

The typical amount is 122.5mm.

Altnahinch Filters in County Antrim and Murlough in County Down both measured 58mm of precipitation, which is 47% of the typical rainfall for that period.
