The performer who sings "yes, and?" assumes the role of Glinda the Good Witch in the movie. Cynthia Erivo portrays Elphaba, the green-skinned protagonist, in this innovative retelling of the well-known Wizard of Oz story.
The video was initially shown on Super Bowl Sunday (February 11) and it showcases British actor Jonathan Bailey as the love interest of the witches, Fiyero. Michelle Yeoh appears as Madam Morrible, Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard, and Pfannee, a student at Glinda and Elphaba’s school is played by Saturday Night Live star Bowen Yang.
Included in the group of actors is the renowned performer from Broadway, Ethan Slater, portraying the character of the despondent scholar named Boq. Grande and Slater were introduced during filming and have been romantically involved since the previous summer, after the termination of their respective marriages.
The brief video shows Glinda and Elphaba's initial encounter, during which Glinda expresses astonishment upon seeing Elphaba's green skin. Afterward, we witness their connection evolving through various snapshots, culminating in a genuine bond and mutual trust as they recognize that the Wizard might not be as heroic as he seems.
The preview concludes with the noise of Elphaba singing the thrilling last musical note of "Defying Gravity", which was initially popularized by Idina Menzel. Idina played the role of the character in New York and London in the beginning of the 2000s.
