An intense last round witnessed Matt, Josh, and Dan, who were the only remaining contestants, compete with each other to become the top baker of the season.

The judges, Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood, had to decide on the final winners by analyzing different dishes. They had a delicious choux pastry signature, a traditional technical dish that was quite sticky and a magnificent showstopper celebration cake to choose from.

However, it was the 28-year-old instructor of physical education and science who emerged victorious.

Bake Off's Last Episode: What Occurred?

"At the beginning of the final, Matty mentioned that he considers himself as the one in an underdog position."

"Come on, who doesn't root for the little guy? Can I get an amen?" he chuckled.

In the initial task, the contenders had to create eight, stunning, intricately-designed eclairs.

Matty prepared eclairs with Black Forest and banoffee fillings, which Prue complimented for being crispy and rigid.

Although Dan had performed well in the technical challenges throughout the series, he couldn't maintain that level of success in the final. Paul criticized his eclairs, claiming they were too moist.

Paul presented a technical challenge to the bakers which involved creating nine portions of lardy cake slices. However, Matty, like other audiences, was clueless about what this treat was.

Matty did not perform well in the lamination, which resulted in his failure in the current round. However, he was able to impress the judges with his showstopper and signature challenges, ultimately salvaging his chances of winning.

He mentioned that the judges were fond of my chocolate Genoise sponge and the Victoria sponge, even though the embellishments on the final product were a little off.

I am unsure as to why, but the taste was well received and that was the most important aspect. Paul mentioned that it brought back memories of cakes he had enjoyed during his childhood.

The final was a tight competition as all three finalists had won the star baker award twice during the series. However, Matty emphasized that there was no harmful competition between them.

He expressed deep respect for his fellow finalists, Josh and Dan. The three of them were inherently competitive, but they still provided each other with support. He believed that no one among them would have held it against the winner, regardless of who it was.

"We all received a Hollywood handshake, were awarded the title of star baker twice, and successfully reached the final. Therefore, it's safe to say that each of us accomplished our individual goals."

He said that the final was challenging because they all knew how equal they were in their baking abilities.

Matty's Bake Off Victory: His Thoughts?

Matty initiated, "I'm speechless- everyone suggested participating in Bake Off, but I overlooked it thinking it wasn't serious. I never envisioned myself being a part of the show, let alone emerging as the victor!"

Matty's peers who made it to the finals expressed their happiness for him after winning. Josh happily shared, "I'm incredibly pleased for Matty. He has always been exceptional when it comes to baking cakes. He is a deserving champion and an amazing individual."

Dan stated that he had a premonition that Matty would be victorious. When the event took place, his prediction came true, and he genuinely feels elated for Matty. Dan expressed his admiration for Matty, describing him as a delightful individual whom he adores.

Judges' Opinions On Matty's Victory?

According to Prue, she has never encountered a more jovial, beaming, non-whining and eager pastry chef.

"He was thoroughly enjoying himself, absorbing every little bit of information we shared and eagerly learning from us."

Paul stated: "He showed consistent improvement throughout and eventually reached the peak in the final challenge, which was the perfect opportunity for him to shine and give it his all."

"The chocolate cake was absolutely fantastic and it's been ages since I've tasted such a delicious treat."

On Thursday 30 November at 8pm on Channel 4, Matty will be appearing alongside other bakers such as Jo Brand and Tom Allen on The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice.
