Matty emerged as the triumphant winner of the 2023 edition of The Great British Bake Off, as announced by judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.

At the beginning of the contest, a total of twelve bakers joined the competition. However, only a single winner managed to secure the trophy- or more accurately, the glass cake stand.

Upon being informed of his triumph, Matty, a physical education instructor hailing from Cambridgeshire, aged 28, declared: "I am at a loss for words. Folks kept advising me to participate in Bake Off, but I had dismissed these suggestions as insubstantial remarks, neglecting to heed their guidance."

Nevertheless, once Matty submitted his entry and successfully made it through the 10-week contest, he was pleasantly shocked by his own accomplishments.

I've experienced lots of good and bad moments lately and my loved ones have had to support me through them. I probably haven't been the easiest person to be around in the past 10 weeks. I'm grateful for my friends and family and their support. It's hard to believe that everything that has happened is actually real.

Dan and Josh were the runners-up in the exciting final. They expressed their congratulations to Matty and acknowledged him as a deserving victor.

Matty expressed that the final was challenging. He acknowledged that the other finalists, Dan and Josh, possessed similar baking abilities. Tasha's exit during the semi-final was unexpected and saddening since she was not only a talented baker but also a wonderful person.

According to Matty, the pupils in the educational institution he instructs at were "amazed" when they learned about his fondness for creating baked goods.

The final competitors of the Great British Bake Off are Matty, Josh, and Danny.

I viewed the last match while being at home with Lara, who is my fiancée, and also some of my family and friends. It was a charming evening, and we had some fizzy drinks to commemorate the occasion. Of course, as usual, I baked some goodies as well. As for the trophy, I kept it concealed in a box in the attic, but I intend to move it to the dining room. That way, it can have a prominent spot where everyone can admire it.

I reckon that the kids at my school were quite impressed that I was a part of the show. I received some wonderful feedback from them. They will probably find it amazing that I emerged victorious, although it will also be unexpected. As they supported me all through the series, they will undoubtedly feel proud to have been a part of my journey to the top.

Matty mentioned that even though he was labeled as the "official underdog" in the competition, he had confidence in his abilities as a baker. He attributed his skills to learning from his grandmother.

The person mentioned that their grandmother was an outstanding and inspiring baker. They recall two specific treats that stood out to them, including a cake shaped like a teddy bear made of chocolate and another cake inspired by the South Pole that their grandmother made around Christmas time.

Matty was diligently working during the Great British Bake Off final.

The champion of the competition, Matty, was praised by Judge Prue Leith for his positive attitude and eagerness to learn. Leith expressed her admiration for his constant cheerfulness and willingness to take on any challenge thrown his way. According to her, Matty was a delight to work with and always had a smile on his face. Leith also noted that he was very receptive to feedback and took note of everything they told him.

In the meantime, Judge Paul Hollywood mentioned that Matty's abilities significantly improved as the series progressed.

Referring to Matty's accomplishment in the concluding trial, Hollywood voiced out: “That chocolate cake was truly exceptional! I haven't had one that scrumptious in a while.”

During the 2023 contest, the bakers have shown their skills by creating a variety of baked goods, from a towering layer cake to a collection of animal-themed treats that included a beloved "Beaver cake". For pastry week, they successfully avoided any unwanted sogginess as they whipped up mini picnic pies, a fancy potato pithivier, and an eye-catching display of sweet pies.

Matty experienced a noteworthy occasion when he earned a respected handshake from a Hollywood figure after impressing the judge with his mouth-watering sausage rolls. The judge commended Matty for the scrumptious taste, appealing appearance, and satisfying texture of his concoction.

During an interview with Channel 4, he revealed that his upcoming baking project involves creating his very own wedding cake for his marriage to his fiancée Lara.

On the 30th of November at 8pm, Matty will be appearing on The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice alongside Jo Brand, Tom Allen, and the rest of the baking contestants. The show can be watched on Channel 4.
