‘Call any time’ for jury duty

What Time is it

I perused the most recent piece by a worker scribbler from The Durango Herald about their time as a juror. I had also served on that exact jury and can empathize with their emotions.

I have received summoning for service many times before but I have never been selected to be part of the jury until now. I was surprised when my name was called. However, I am glad to have the opportunity to serve my civic duty as part of the jury. I assure everyone that I am impartial and have no preconceived judgments towards any defendant. It is an honor to be one of the 12 people who will listen to the testimonies and discuss the case thoroughly.

In the justice system, it is assumed that the person on trial is innocent until proven guilty, and it is up to the prosecution to prove their guilt. After carefully considering the evidence presented, I felt unsure about what action to take. I wasn't excited about the potential for a heated argument with my colleagues.

If I choose to rely solely on the information presented and form an opinion, would I have the ability to endure any opposing arguments in favor of my belief, regardless of whether it is for the defense or prosecution?

We felt somewhat relieved when we were let go, but also a bit disappointed that we couldn't see the entire process to the end.

I am fully happy to take part, and as I am no longer working, I would be willing to serve once more. The whole experience was quite fascinating.

I just hope that there would be a special parking area for jurors. I am willing to be called by La Plata County anytime in the future.
