REPORT: TOWN 1-4 WEST BROM

West Brom

The Terriers ultimately lost the game despite initially taking the lead at the JSS.

In the football match between Huddersfield Town and West Bromwich Albion, Delano Burgzorg scored a goal for our team before the half time break. However, the Baggies came back with great intensity and managed to score four goals, earning themselves a victory with three points.

On a disheartening afternoon at the John Smith’s Stadium, Town suffered a defeat at the hands of West Bromwich Albion who are currently pushing for a Play-Off spot. Although the first half showed potential, unfortunately, it did not amount to anything in the end.

The Terriers initially played very well and earned the lead at half time thanks to Delano Burgzorg's seventh goal of the season. They put pressure on the Baggies and caused them to make mistakes, and they could have scored even more points if they had made some mistakes in passing.

Nevertheless, the game's dynamics swiftly changed once the visiting team netted twice, completely altering the situation on the pitch. In addition, they impressively secured two more goals as the first half elapsed.

The Town team set up in a 3-5-2 formation for the match, with Burgzorg and Sorba Thomas partnering as strikers, displaying incredible speed and physicality. Sorba worked hard with relentless pressing and was a continuous threat in the attacking zone. In the first 45 minutes, we dominated and won most of the battles in all areas of the field.

Before scoring, we had attempted to get a goal by using a combination of precise passes and excellent set piece deliveries. Although these efforts were not successful, we finally scored when Burgzorg kicked the ball into the net after half an hour of playing.

Tom Lees deserves a shoutout for his impressive performance in the match. He fearlessly challenged Jed Wallace for the ball in the middle of the field, successfully winning the 50-50. Lees then swiftly passed the ball to Burgzorg, who skillfully dodged past Darnell Furlong to reach the penalty area. Burgzorg didn't hesitate to take a shot, and he managed to get the ball past goalkeeper Alex Palmer with a well-placed low drive. The Cowshed Loyal erupted in cheers as Burgzorg's goal secured their team's victory.

Regrettably, the game's momentum shifted during the second half as the team could not keep up with the same level of pressure they had displayed in the first half. This was compounded by a tactical adjustment made by the Baggies manager, Carlos Corberán.

In the 52nd minute, the teams were leveled when a goal was scored. There was some controversy as the ball may have been passed forward illegally, but the referees did not call it. Despite there being four defenders from the opposing team around him, Mikey Johnston was able to receive a pass from Andreas Weimann and score.

The town team had a great opportunity to score and get ahead in the game, but unfortunately, they missed it. Burgzorg put pressure on Okay and caused him to make a mistake by passing the ball poorly, allowing Burgzorg to run towards the opposing goalkeeper. However, Burgzorg's shot from a close distance was not powerful enough and Palmer, the opposing team's goalkeeper, managed to deflect it away from the goal.

Next, the West Brom team scored a goal, although it was not good news for the Town team. Jonathan Hogg managed to clear the ball with a header during the first corner. However, when another ball was sent back into the box, it bounced among many players and accidentally hit Kyle Bartley, who was rushing towards the ball. Consequently, the ball went into the bottom corner of the net.

Okay, the midfielder for West Brom, scored an incredible goal from quite a distance away. He took aim and launched the ball with tremendous power, causing Nicholls to dive in vain as it sailed past him into the net.

In the 73rd minute, the fourth goal was scored, effectively ending the game. Johnston scored their second goal in a way that was reminiscent of Burgzorg's opening goal for Town.

Even though the final score was not in favor of Town, they had opportunities to score and make the game end in a tighter result.

During the game, First Ward was unable to connect with Burgzorg's shot that looked more like a cross. Nevertheless, this happened only after Thomas had done some excellent work on the field. First Ward was unfortunate not to score as another goal was disallowed due to a very close offside call on Burgzorg who was involved in the lead-up to the play.

In the 81st minute of the game, Thomas managed to locate Jack Rudoni in the box. Nonetheless, despite having a clear opportunity, Palmer managed to block Rudoni's shot from incredibly close range and even stopped Ward's subsequent attempt. It was a missed chance for our team to score a goal.

The team from the town played in a formation of 3-5-2, with Lee Nicholls as the goalkeeper. The defense was made up of Matty Pearson, Michał Helik, who was replaced by Radinio Balker at the 75 minute mark, and Tom Lees. The midfield consisted of Brodie Spencer, David Kasumu, who was substituted by Danny Ward in the 65th minute, Jonathan Hogg as the captain of the team, who was later replaced by Alex Matos at the 75th minute, Jack Rudoni, and Jaheim Headley, who was replaced by Josh Koroma in the 65th minute. The team's forwards were Sorba Thomas and Delano Burgzorg.

Players on the bench who didn't play: Chris Maxwell, Brahima Diarra, Ben Wiles, Ben Jackson, and Tom Iorpenda.

Booking for the town of Delano has been made for the player named Burgzorg for a duration of 30 minutes.
