Wendy Williams is now ‘permanently disabled, legally incapacitated’ after dementia diagnosis, reports say
(Gray News) – Reports indicate that Wendy Williams, the television personality, is facing a worsening struggle with dementia.
As reported by People, official documents reveal that Williams' court-appointed guardian has declared that the 60-year-old is “cognitively impaired, permanently disabled, and legally unable to make decisions.”
The ex-talk show host was placed under court-mandated guardianship in April 2022 due to her persistent health problems, which include Graves' disease, lymphedema, and struggles with alcohol abuse.
In February of this year, Williams' healthcare team revealed that she has been diagnosed with progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia.
Wendy's care team stated in a news release that she has faced major challenges due to aphasia, which interferes with her ability to speak and communicate, as well as frontotemporal dementia, a degenerative condition that affects behavior and thinking skills.
When the announcement was made, her medical team noted that the diagnosis had already posed considerable challenges in Wendy's life, yet she continued to display her characteristic sense of humor.
